Dynasty Fantasy Football Rookie Profile: Jermaine Burton, WR Alabama

Richard Cooling

Jermaine Burton may be one of the most challenging evaluations in this entire draft class. His talent is clear for everyone to see, as he has consistently flashed during his career while playing for the power programs of Georgia and Alabama. However, there are some serious red flags and character concerns, along with the lack of consistent production during his four-year college career.

If he can put it all together, he could be the steal of this year's draft. If the concerns translate to the NFL, drafting him could be akin to setting the pick on fire.

The Stats

Courtesy of Sports Reference.

As a true freshman, lead the 2020 Georgia Bulldogs in snaps at the wide receiver position, playing 504 offensive snaps out of a total of 712. He primarily played outside, with 72% of his snaps occurring there, although he did occasionally play out of the slot. While leading the team in snaps, he was also tied for second in targets with a target share of 18.6%. However, a disappointing 52% catch rate meant that he ended the season with only 27 receptions. In his sophomore season, he began to fall down the pecking order and again flashed in spurts but didn't put together a fantastic statistical season despite posting solid per-route numbers with a yards per route run of 2.39 and targets per route run of 14.4%. Despite winning a national title with the Bulldogs, Burton entered the transfer portal to try and kick start his career and landed with Alabama.
