Dynasty Winners from NFL Free Agency

Tim Riordan

The 2024 NFL season is officially only about a week old, but we’ve seen a historic amount of activity in the league and free agency values have been rising and falling in the aftermath. Free agency in the NFL is typically more hype than substance in the fantasy football world, but this season’s player movement has been extremely impactful. In dynasty leagues, this activity is of utmost importance. Dynasty leagues aren’t August through December leagues, we go 365 days a year (or 366 days in a year like 2024).

You don’t win or lose your dynasty leagues in March, but there are still winners and losers! Typically, I find that the players who are changing teams are often not the players winning in free agency. Often, when a player changes teams in free agency or the off-season, their team is telling you what they think about that player. There are special circumstances, but typically, players who change teams in the off-season struggle to have success with their new team.

In this piece, we’ll dig into the biggest winners from free agency, even if they’re playing on the same team as they did in 2023.

Winners

The Next Quarterback of the Chicago Bears

I’m saying that Caleb Williams was a big winner of free agency, without exactly saying Caleb Williams. The Bears have made it clear with the Justin Fields trade that they will be selecting a quarterback early in the 2024 NFL Draft. It’s certainly possible that the Bears fall in love with a different quarterback, or even trade back, but the odds on DraftKings Sportsbook say the Bears are -3000 to select Williams.
