Tanner McLachlan hails from north of the border, born and raised in Alberta, Canada. He picked up Canadian rules football in grade school and earned All-Canada honors as a wide receiver in high school. He originally signed on to play basketball locally at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta but decided to move to the US and pursue his dream of making it as a football player. He relocated to Arizona and enrolled in an extra year of high school at the American Leadership Academy. He caught 27 passes for 640 yards and 10 touchdowns in that one year as a wide receiver and tight end.
