Dynasty Fantasy Football: UDFA Analysis
Every year there are big-name college players that, surprisingly, do not get drafted. Fantasy Football players want to find the next sleeper. There have been success stories like Antonio Gates, Wes Welker, and Arian Foster, but for the most part, undrafted free agents do not have a high success rate.
Many will not hit, but you just must temper your expectations and not overdraft UFDAs. I am here to help find the best guesses who could see time early and make a splash. I will go over players who could contribute right away and players that you should stash on your taxi squad.
Immediate Contributors
Sean Tucker, RB TB
The biggest name on the UDFA list is Sean Tucker. Many college football fans loved him coming into the draft, but some medical question marks pushed him to not be drafted. He had over 3,000 rushing yards and has great speed to take it the distance. The depth chart for TB is not daunting, with Rachaad White and Chase Edmonds as the two top backs. Most teams are using two-backs now, so Tucker could impress enough in camp to get in the rotation.
Profiled Syracuse RB Sean Tucker this morning for @Steelersdepot
Legitimate home run RB; track background shows up constantly on tape. Really good vision and tempo as a runner. Think he has a shot to eventually become a serviceable starter in the NFL.https://t.co/5JXhL1I2jg pic.twitter.com/Km9CVE02aB

Tyler Hudson, WR LAR
Tyler Hudson put up big numbers at Central Arkansas and then, in 2022, transferred to Louisville. I really loved watching his tape, and he showed he could play at the next level with over 1,000 yards. The Los Angeles Rams have Cooper Kupp coming off an injury and an underachieving Van Jefferson. There is plenty of opportunity to get in the WR rotation this year. Give me the possibility at the WR3 for a Sean Mcvay offense.

35-554-1Not a dynamic route runner or twitchy in the short area. Long strider, slow laterally. But solid against zone with decent receiver play. pic.twitter.com/VlTbAf8lFz

Kearis Jackson, TEN
Kearis Jackson was a top 130 player in 2018, according to 247 Sports. During his time at Georgia, the production was not consistent, with only 1,100 yards in four seasons. This is truly just based on potential and a lack of talent at the WR position for TEN. To get in the top three in the WR rotation, Jackson would have to beat out Chris Moore and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine. Not world-beaters by any means, and with the team possibly looking toward the future, TEN may want to look at the youth on the team.
Okay. Kearis Jackson has me intrigued. pic.twitter.com/nNQ4FuDZkf

Players to Stash
Rakim Jarrett, WR TB
Rakim Jarrett was a top 30 player in 2020 but was wildly inconsistent at Maryland. He never truly took over as the go to receiver and was overshadowed at times by fellow UFDA, Dontay Demus. He only had 1,500 yards in his career but did have five games of over 100 yards receiving. At best he would be WR4 on TB this year, but Mike Evans is aging and there is the possibility of getting out of Russell Gage’s contract in 2024. If possible, he is worth the stash and a flyer in the fourth round of your rookie draft.

Jalen Moreno-Cropper, WR DAL
Jalen Moreno-Cropper had a very productive career at Fresno St with over 2,700 yards and 21 touchdowns. He was great in the middle of the field and his quickness makes him great fit for the slot in the NFL. He contributed early in his career on special teams, so that could help him find a spot on the team. There is a need for the 4th WR on DAL and Jalen Tolbert could not get on the field last year. Cropper could be a long shot but I like players on high powered offenses, as they can support multiple receivers.
Jalen Moreno-Cropper measured measured 5’11” 175 w/ a 4.40 at the combine. PFF’s 11th ranked WR in the class.
Has great hands & speed off the LOS + downfield, & can create separation at all 3 levels. A player to in preseason. #NFLDraft #CowboysNation pic.twitter.com/EBnGPq9pwM— Shane Carter (@ShaneCarterTx) April 30, 2023
Mitchell Tinsley, WR WAS
Mitchell Tinsley had a huge year in 2021, with over 1,400 yards at Western Kentucky. That big year allowed him to transfer to Penn St but he had mediocre numbers with 500 yards and five touchdowns. I really like his game and thing in the spread system in today’s NFL, he could find a role in the slot. WAS has Eric Bienemy at helm on the offense now, with KC there were many WRs that saw the field. Tinsley could be WR4 this year and with Curtis Samuel getting older, he could take his role in the next couple seasons.
WR Mitchell Tinsley (Penn State) has had a heck of a last week.
Another good look at his skillset vs Kei’Trel Clark (Louisville). pic.twitter.com/ObzJVq14bX
