This 2023 rookie class has a plethora of running backs, led by superstar Bijan Robinson and consensus RB2 Jahmyr Gibbs. However, it’s an incredibly deep class in addition to that star power. There are about 15 or even up to 20 running backs I like in this class, making it one of the deepest running back classes in recent years. But despite that depth, there are only a few genuine contenders for the RB3 spot behind Robinson and Gibbs. Let’s jump into analyzing Zach Charbonnet, who most certainly falls into that group.

The Stats

Charbonnet had an interesting college career, starting at Michigan in 2019.

He enrolled early at Michigan in January 2019, giving him time to recover from a high school knee injury. He was healthy before the first game, where he immediately became Michigan’s starting running back as a true freshman ahead of Hassan Haskins.
