Dynasty Fantasy Football Rankings: Cornerstone Report, Week 14

Shane Hallam

Welcome to the Cornerstone Report where we will check in on the young players in football (2024 eligible, rookies, and second year) each week! As the hottest commodities in dynasty and devy, these players can make or break your teams in the future. Here are some of the top headlines and reports for the future of the league.

Adonai Mitchell and Xavier Worthy, WR Texas dominate in Big 12 Championship

The Longhorns dominated Oklahoma State to punch their ticket to the college playoff. A huge part of the success was Mitchell and Worthy, who appeared unrecoverable in the game. Mitchell ended up with six catches for 109 yards and an early touchdown. Worthy also hauled in six passes and racked up 86 yards. He also had the fastest GPS time of any player in college football this year at 22.7 mph. He was injured in the game and ended up in a walking boot and on crutches, so we will see if Worthy can go for the playoff. Both WRs are potential top 50 picks in the NFL Draft if they declare.

Bo Nix, QB Oregon and Michael Penix, QB Washington look great in Pac-12 duel

Nix and Penix got to rematch in the Pac-12 championship game in a tight match-up. Both looked like future NFL passers with Nix rushing for 69 yards along with throwing for 239 yards and three touchdowns. Penix got the win by throwing for 319 yards and a touchdown as the Huskies went to the ground game for most of the night. Both threw an interception, but also made numerous NFL passes. The draft capital will be interesting as both could sneak into the first round.

Tank Dell, WR HOU out for the season with a fractured fibula

It seems like everyone I wrote about last week got hurt. Most notably, Dell fractured his fibula in brutal fashion while blocking near the goal line. An incredible rookie season is cut short and fantasy owners are reeling after Dell was the clear favorite target of rookie QB CJ Stroud. Dell remains a mainstay in the top 15 dynasty WRs and should be back for a big year next season.

Puka Nacua WR LAR goes off again

The Rams’ offense has come back alive with Matthew Stafford at the helm. Nacua was the beneficiary hauling in four receptions for 105 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown against a solid Browns secondary. Though many have remained skeptical about the fifth-round pick being the real deal, he has been consistent all season. Smooth footwork and great body control have led to one big performance after another. Nacua is entering the Top Ten fantasy WR conversation. He did suffer an AC sprain, so that needs to be monitored.

Christian Watson, WR GB finally healthy and performing

It had been a rough season for both Watson and the Packers, but the talent finally showed through in a tough match-up against the Chiefs. Watson had seven catches for 71 yards and two touchdowns along with 15 rushing yards. He looked fully healthy and performed as a WR1 in the match-up. Second-year teammate Romeo Doubs also had a solid game, setting up a good final stretch for the duo and Packers offense.

Dameon Pierce, RB HOU returns but splits snaps

Pierce came back from an ankle injury and only saw 38% of snaps as he split with Devin Singletary. The bright side was that Pierce led the team carries with 15 to Singletary’s eight. Pierce’s touchdown saved his fantasy day. Ultimately, he is not a great fit for the new Texans offense this year and may need a change of scenery to get back to the potential he showed as a rookie.
