Dynasty Decision: Deebo Samuel

Is Deebo Samuel worth targeting or moving on from in your dynasty leagues?

We all know the pain of holding onto that stud player too long as their production evaporates and your once highly-priced asset is essentially worthless. There are also plenty of cases of players being sold expecting that decline only to go on defying the odds. This series will examine what you should do as players approach these decision points.

Deebo Samuel WR, SF

'Boom-bust' is a phrase that is banded around for many players. However, if you look at the roller-coaster that has been Samuel’s fantasy production through his four seasons, it is the epitome of boom-bust. He is an absolute beast with the ball in his hands and is paired with an ingenious offensive play-caller who uses him uniquely to make the most of that skill set. He is also part of a four-headed monster in San Francisco, so will he see enough volume to be consistently reliable for fantasy, or should you be looking to pivot away from him?

With McCaffery in the fold and Aiyuk seemingly stepping into his own, maybe Shanny will have some other bodies to throw to the lions… This can only be good for Samuel. Shanny will ride whoever he has to into an early grave to get a first down. That was Deebo for a while and nobody else. Given the situations he was put in by a coach who has 0 regards for his players’ health it is no surprise he got hurt. At least now he is not alone. I say buy!

Not caring for players health must run in the Shanahan family.
