20/20 Interview with Scott Connor

The DLF Team

This week, Dynasty and Chill host and overall dynasty stud, Scott Connor, spent a few minutes answering some questions so you could get to know him better. Check it out.

Where are you from?

Columbus, OH.  Born and raised. Lived here my whole life other than college at the University of Kentucky.

What do you do for your regular job?

Civil Litigation Clams at a fortune 100 Insurance Company. I don’t have a law degree but fight with attorneys all day. I should go to law school but it’s a huge commitment.

What is the worst job you’ve ever had?

Cleaned grease traps at a grocery chain. This was done at the end of the day and yes, it’s as gross as it sounds.

What is the best job you’ve ever had?

Printed European tickets for a travel agency. Got to sit in a room all day and print out tickets. I was spoiled and lucked into this job in high school and was able to do it for 3 years.

What do you consider your dream job?

A professional gambler with a nest egg. I am wired in a way I could not handle the tilt of my mortgage being on the line with every bet, but I could likely enjoy making a living in the Vegas scene full-time.

How long have you been in the industry?

Since 2017. I never thought I would actually be “in the industry”, but anyone can do it now if you have a passion and some basic skills.

How did you get your break into fantasy football?

Ryan McDowell and Curtis Patrick at Dynasty Command Center. I started as a premium member and it turned into a staff position. The rest is history!

What tool do you use the most on DLF?

ADP tool. I use this daily for research and context for player values.

What tool do you use most outside of DLF?

Player profiler. It’s commonplace and baseline for analytical metrics.

Who was the best sleeper you pegged that broke out?

Aaron Jones. I wasn’t aggressive enough on Jones but did move on him earlier than most.

Who was your biggest whiff?

JJ Arcega-Whiteside. This was a bad WR class but I definitely over-exposed myself to JJAW shares.

What is the worst trade you have made?

Todd Gurley for Jay Cutler and a 2nd before his best season. QB desperation at its best.

Who is your favorite underfollowed Twitter account?

@Cooper_DFF. Great data and can tell a story in-context with the data.

Who is your favorite NFL team?

Cincinnati Bengals. Born and raised. It’s painful.

Who is your favorite college football team?

Kentucky Wildcats. Anything. Everything.

Who was your favorite player growing up?

Emmitt Smith. Nobody appreciates the fact a player can start at the RB position for 15+ seasons.

Who is your favorite player of all time?

Chad Johnson. Great player, underappreciated. Helped change the narrative on the Bengals after a dark time in franchise history.

What other hobbies or passions do you have outside of fantasy football?

Powerlifting and nutrition. These go hand-in-hand, and they still are basic principles of my fitness/nutrition routines.

What are some of your favorite movies?

National Treasure. As a history buff and Nic Cage fan, this one never gets old.

Who are some of your favorite bands?

Rascal Flatts. So many hits and a major influence on the pop/country crossover era.
