Surprised there isnt more Mcmillian love. If he has half the talent it appears, it seems like a golden opportunity since they are sure to face a lot of teams running out the clock in second half of games

For me he’s played one season and not showed that much talent to be honest. He played exactly as he did in college – a good run stopping LB with limited ability in coverage [not a surprise because he’s a limited athlete].
Also – facing teams running out the clock is terrible for IDP production. Passing downs are more productive for defenders and teams running down the clock limits snaps. Which kills volume – the biggest single part of what creates productivity. What you describe what be really bad news for him as an IDP.

Jerome Baker is by far the best linebacker in Miami……..and the new staff knows it. Alonso is being moved to strongside this year and Baker is being moved to weakside and a 3 down LB. Not sure who between McMillan and Alonso will stay on the field with Baker on passing downs? But if slug Alonso can be the #1 fantasy LB for 9 weeks last season playing the weakside…….what is the ceiling for Baker who is one of the fastest linebackers in the league!

IMO it’s way too early to try and figure out [with any certainty] how the new coaching staff will use their LBs. I strongly suspect the team don’t know after a single day of practise in pads. Ignore what you see from beat writers and fan sites here. It’s just too early to know.
Kiko is a very poor fit for playing Sam. That role in the NE/Flores defense is a heavy pass-rushing role. Which has always been a very weak point for Alonso. There’s not a natural Sam in the top 3 LBs here.
Not to mention the fact that the Pats don’t really use a designated Sam as it’s commonly referred to. They utulise two OLBs who tend to have a L/R designation more than Strong/Weak. It doesn’t really map.
Also – being fast does not correlate to lots of tackles. Being slow sure means you’re a limited player but there are plenty of fast LBs who don’t produce.
Baker could well pan out well [which is why he’s my dark horse] but there are 3 LBs fighting for 2 every-down roles here.
