2024 Injury Breakdowns: Tight Ends Returning From Injury

Kyle Trimble

In recent years, tight ends have become more productive within NFL offenses due to their versatility in blocking in both the pass and run games, but also a huge mismatch as receivers. While the depth at tight end is not as deep in fantasy as other positions, if you can grab a top tight end, he can in some cases hold more value than midtier running backs and wide receivers.

Like any other position in football, tight ends can be impacted by injuries which can affect their production. Knowing which ones to avoid coming off an injury and who to buy low on can help you maximize your draft strategy on your way to a championship.

TJ Hockenson, MIN

Tearing his ACL in week 17 of last season, Hockenson has diligently been working back in his rehab to be ready for the 2024 season. Due to the timing of his injury, he is not expected back until late October or early November at the earliest. When Hockenson is healthy, he is one of the best in the league, but 2024 may be a wash. He may show some value towards the end of the season as he rounds into form. He is still worth picking in fantasy but be prepared to be without him for a good chunk of your season.
