The Steelers have signed running back Trey Sermon.
Read moreWelcome to Monday Mocks, where I’ll bring you…you guessed it, a new mock draft every Monday during the off-season. In my opinion, drafting is the best part of fantasy football, so I do as much of that as I can. This series will be filled with all types of mocks. We’ll draft startups, rookies, devys, and more.
The NFL’s free agency period is now entering its third week and is screeching to a halt. The top available free agent list is now headlined by players like Hunter Renfrow, Michael Thomas and Ryan Tannehill. With that said, it’s time to look back at the players who have changed teams in recent weeks, through free agency or trades.
Following last year’s contract squabbles, it was no surprise to see superstar running back Saquon Barkley leave the Giants. What did surprise was his landing spot, signing a three-year deal with division rival Philadelphia. Barkley ends his Giants’ career with three RB1 seasons, narrowly missing a fourth last year as he finished as the RB13 overall. Now, Barkley joins an offense that has helped Miles Sanders and D'Andre Swift produce career-years in the past two seasons. Barkley’s 2,000+ yard rookie campaign feels like a lifetime ago, but if he can ever match those numbers again, it will happen this year with the Eagles.
We knew the quarterback market would be razor-thin in free agency. Factor in a top-heavy rookie class and few reliable options through the trade market and veteran Kirk Cousins became the top dog, despite the fact that he is still recovering from a season-ending injury. Cousins entered 2023 with six QB1 seasons in the previous eight years and was well on his way to his seventh, averaging nearly 19 fantasy points per game prior to his injury. Cousins now has an exciting young corps of playmakers in Atlanta. If he’s fully healthy, Cousins will once again be in the running to produce a QB1 season.
