Welcome to the Cornerstone Report where we will check in on the young players in football (2024 eligible, rookies, and second year) each week! As the hottest commodities in dynasty and devy, these players can make or break your teams in the future. Here are some of the top headlines and reports for the future of the league.

Shedeur Sanders, QB Colorado’s hype continues

In a tight game with Colorado State, the legend continues to grow for Sanders. Son of head coach and NFL Hall of Famer Deion, Sanders has flashed NFL passing upside in his first three games in the FBS. Colorado is surprisingly undefeated with Sanders posting 1,251 yards passing and ten touchdowns. Though his fundamentals need work, he has shown great accuracy outside the hash marks and is cool under pressure, manufacturing a game-tying touchdown this past week. As the quest for the third quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft continues, Sanders has made his case.

Malik Nabers, WR LSU makes his case as a top receiver

In a dominant victory over Mississippi State, LSU made the case for being a top SEC team. Part of the reason is Nabers who absolutely dominated for the Tigers with 13 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns. He broke out last season, showing incredible short-area athleticism and solid hands. Despite LSU having a rushing quarterback in Jayden Daniels, Nabers could establish himself as one of the top wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft this season.

CJ Stroud, QB HOU has a huge passing day in loss

The Texans lost big to the Colts this past weekend when Anthony Richardson ran for two touchdowns (and left the game with a concussion). The big takeaway was Stroud who handled intense pressure well and threw for 389 yards and two touchdowns, including one to fellow rookie Tank Dell. Stroud continues to develop as a passer and has a bright fantasy future ahead.

Puka Nacua, WR and Kyren Williams, RB LAR carry the offense

Nacua continues to be the talk of the fantasy world with 15 catches for 147 yards this past week on 20 targets. Becoming a one-to-one replacement for Cooper Kupp has been surprising, but Nacua is establishing himself as needing a role even when Kupp returns. Williams has been a huge surprise as well, as Cam Akers was a healthy scratch this past week and subsequently traded to the Vikings. Rushing for 52 yards and a touchdown along with six receptions for 48 yards and another touchdown was a successful fantasy week. With both players succeeding against a tough 49ers defense, they become must-starts moving forward.

Brian Robinson, RB WAS establishes the ground game

Expectations were fairly low for Robinson coming into the season, but he broke out with 129 combined yards and two touchdowns against the Broncos. Generally viewed as a plodder, Robinson has been the goal line back but is still involved in the passing game. Though Antonio Gibson received 35% of snaps, Robinson’s 61% were much more meaningful, With upgraded QB play from Sam Howell, Robinson becomes a much better fantasy asset than first thought.

James Cook, RB BUF has a big rushing day

With Devin Singletary moving on to the Texans, it was time for Cook to take over the Bills backfield. He flashed his potential rushing for 123 yards on 17 carries. He also added four receptions for 36 yards. As a runner, Cook looks like the real deal. But, he did not score a touchdown despite both Damien Harris and Latavius Murray notching one each. This may cap his upside, but there is room for more fantasy growth for Cook.
