Monday Mocks: ‘What If?’ Superflex Rookie Mock Draft

Welcome to Monday Mocks, where I’ll bring you…you guessed it, a new mock draft every Monday during the off-season. In my opinion, drafting is the best part of fantasy football, so I do as much of that as I can. This series will be filled with all types of mocks. We’ll draft startups, rookies, devys and more.

Ten days! We are down to just ten days until the 2022 NFL Draft. Each year, the closer we draw to the draft, the more information we collectively learn. This means the mock drafts that were once a futile exercise begin to look more and more realistic. Last week, one of my favorite NFL Draft analysts, Dane Brugler, released a full seven-round NFL mock draft. These are always my favorite because of the depth. Of course, the players near the top of the draft will also claim early picks in rookie drafts but the later round selections can be crucial dynasty assets as well.

This week’s superflex dynasty rookie mock is based solely on what Dane projected in his full NFL mock draft. We’ll assume he nailed both the landing spots and draft capital that are so crucial in ultimately determining a player’s dynasty value. I strongly recommend you seek out this full mock draft to read, along with Dane’s 2022 NFL Draft Guide, deservedly nicknamed “The Beast.”

ROUND ONE

1.01 - Malik Willis, QB ATL (8th pick, first round)

The high-upside athlete is the second signal-caller off the board and is the Falcons quarterback of the future. The landing spot is ideal as veteran Marcus Mariota is good and experienced enough to help Willis grow, but not a big enough threat to keep him off the field, if he shows he’s ready.

1.02 - Breece Hall, RB ATL (43rd pick, second round)

Here’s a rare situation. One team, the Falcons, have the top two picks in a dynasty rookie draft. In this mock draft, Atlanta follows up their quarterback addition by locking in the top back in the class in Hall. Already being valued as a dynasty RB1, the Falcons would offer Hall the opportunity to become a bellcow back, making him worthy of a heavy dynasty investment.
