Introducing the DLF Ultra-Flex Dynasty Leagues

Ryan McDowell

Fantasy football continues to evolve and in so many cases, dynasty players are at the root of that change. Over the years, dynasty leagues have found alternative and better ways to play fantasy football, making adjustments to scoring systems, roster sizes, and much more.

Perhaps the largest impact the dynasty community has made on the macro version of fantasy football comes in weekly starting lineups. Years ago, the majority of fantasy leagues featured a common starting lineup requirement, which included a quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers, a tight end, and of course, a kicker and a defense.

Since then, we have seen many changes, which include the removal of the kicker and defense from lineups, the addition of a superflex position, and a portion of those once-required starting spots being transformed into flex spots. In the dynasty leagues I have created and commissioned, I always like to allow for as much manager discretion as possible. I want dynasty managers to build their team how they choose, and have a chance to win with that team.

For those reasons, when my friend and Safe Leagues commissioner Scott Fish asked me for ideas for a new league format, I suggested a league with ultimate flexibility. Let me be the first to introduce you to the newest partnership between DLF and Safe Leagues… DLF Ultra-Flex Dynasty Leagues.

Beginning immediately, Safe Leagues will be offering a limited number of Ultra-Flex Dynasty Leagues. As the name suggests, there will be plenty of room for dynasty managers to make roster decisions as their unique team is crafted. Each team will start ten players each week. Other than a maximum of two quarterbacks, the weekly lineup formation is, well… flexible. Are you like me and love to build your dynasty teams around wide receivers? You can start ten of them every week. Looking to take advantage of that tight-end premium scoring? Stock up and start as many as you want as part of your ten-man lineup. You can finally try an actual Zero-RB team.

That’s right, in the DLF Ultra-Flex Dynasty Leagues, you are not required to start a player at any specific position. From the Safe Leagues website, here are the full starting requirements:

The majority of the other rules and settings match last year’s DLF Champion’s Cup Series leagues. Some notable rules include:

  • $75 entry fee
  • 28-man rosters
  • PPR scoring with TE Premium

Maybe the best part of this new format, and this is true with all Safe Leagues, is that the draft begins the day after the league fills. Join the new and limited DLF Ultra-Flex Dynasty Leagues and build your team your way.

Oh, I nearly forgot. If you prefer the auction format instead of snake drafts, those leagues are also available with the same flexible rules and settings.
