Week Eleven Aftermath

Week eleven featured a resurgent performance from an otherwise disappointing Detroit running back in Kevin Smith, a bevy of injuries to quarterbacks and another huge performance from Rob Gronkowski. Let’s take a look back and a look ahead in this week’s Turkey Day edition of the weekly aftermath.

Week Eleven Fantasy MVP

We told you to pick up Kevin Smith in the week nine aftermath, so you won’t see his name listed in this week’s edition. We’d love to say we expected this type of output from him, but we’d be lying. I mean, really, 201 total yards and THREE scores!?! That’s the best game you’ll see from Smith all season, but at least he’s emerged as a possible flex option.

After a hot start, Ryan Mathews has really cooled off. This week’s performance that featured 51 total yards and a lost fumble just didn’t get the job done.

Gut Checks

I’d be worried if…

I own Hakeem Nicks or Mario Manningham. Call me crazy, but Victor Cruz looks like the first option, not the third at this point.

I own Jahvid Best. Look, Kevin Smith isn’t going to put up those kind of numbers every week, but the Lions may not feel the need to rush Best back.

I think Caleb Hanie is going to lead me to the promised land. Hanie had a great playoff game in place of Cutler, but he has a huge task ahead of him now and teams will be planning for him.

I think Chris Ogbonnaya is a long-term investment in a dynasty league. Not happening.

I’m still banking on Reggie Bush staying this hot. Again, we’ve seen this before.

I own any Broncos receiver. Tim Tebow may be winning games, but he’s killing their collective values.

I have Aaron Hernandez as my top Tight End. Rob Gronkowski seems to be catching everything.

I’m thinking Felix Jones is going to regain his starting job from DeMarco Murray.

I’m hoping Shonn Greene can contribute for your team right now. He’s just losing time to emerge and McKnight looked a lot better this week.

I’m banking on Brandon Jacobs to be one of my top options. You probably have to roll with him, but he’s been unimpressive.

I have Fred Jackson as my top running back. Losing him for the season is huge.

I’m wanting Beanie Wells to push my team into the playoffs. He’s hurt and the Cardinals are playing Rich Bartel. Do the math.

A Look Ahead to Hot Names on the Week Eleven Waiver Wire

1. Evan Royster, RB WAS

Jacksonville WRs and Washington RBs tend to be like crack to me. Let’s go with Royster now that Choice has been cut.

2. Caleb Hanie, QB CHI

I don’t have a ton of faith in him, but he should certainly be rostered.
