Week Eleven Aftermath

Week eleven featured a resurgent performance from an otherwise disappointing Detroit running back in Kevin Smith, a bevy of injuries to quarterbacks and another huge performance from Rob Gronkowski.  Let’s take a look back and a look ahead in this week’s Turkey Day edition of the weekly aftermath.

Week Eleven Fantasy MVP

We told you to pick up Kevin Smith in the week nine aftermath, so you won’t see his name listed in this week’s edition. We’d love to say we expected this type of output from him, but we’d be lying. I mean, really, 201 total yards and THREE scores!?!  That’s the best game you’ll see from Smith all season, but at least he’s emerged as a possible flex option.

Week Eleven Fantasy LVP

After a hot start, Ryan Mathews has really cooled off. This week’s performance that featured 51 total yards and a lost fumble just didn’t get the job done.

Lineup Fun

The virtually unbeatable lineup of the week…

QB Matt Stafford DET = 335 passing yards, five touchdowns, two INTs
RB Kevin Smith DET  = 140 rushing yards, 61 receiving yards, three touchdowns
RB Ray Rice BAL = 104 rushing yards, 43 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB Chris Ogbonnaya CLE  = 115 rushing yards, 19 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Jordy Nelson GB = 6 catches, 123 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Nate Washington TEN = 9 catches, 115 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Vincent Jackson SD = 7 catches, 165 yards, one touchdown
TE Rob Gronkowski NE  = 4 catches, 96 yards, two touchdowns

The dominant underdog lineup of the week…

QB Rex Grossman WAS = 289 passing yards, two touchdowns, one INT
RB Charles Clay MIA  =
69 receiving yards, one touchdown
RB Justin Forsett SEA = 31 rushing yards, one touchdown
RB Shane Vereen NE =
39 rushing yards, one touchdown
WR Jabar Gaffney WAS =
7 catches, 115 yards, one touchdown
WR Jerome Simpson CIN =
8 catches, 152 receiving yards
WR Johnny Knox CHI =
3 catches, 97 recieving yards, one touchdown
TE Marcedes Lewis JAX =
7 catches, 64 recieving yards

You probably lost if your lineup looked like this...

QB Matt Hasselbeck TEN = 124 passing yards, one INT
RB Ryan Mathews SD  = 51 total yards, one lost fumble
RB Roy Helu WAS = 38 total yards
RB Chris Johnson TEN = 28 total yards (on 15 touches)
WR Denarius Moore OAK = One catch, 14 receiving yards
WR Damian Williams TEN = One catch, 16 receiving yards (on 11 targets)
WR Steve Johnson BUF = 2 catches, 16 receiving yards
TE Jeremy Shockey CAR  = No catches

Gut Checks

I’d be worried if…

I own Hakeem Nicks or Mario Manningham.  Call me crazy, but Victor Cruz looks like the first option, not the third at this point.

I own Jahvid Best.  Look, Kevin Smith isn’t going to put up those kind of numbers every week, but the Lions may not feel the need to rush Best back.

I think Caleb Hanie is going to lead me to the promised land. Hanie had a great playoff game in place of Cutler, but he has a huge task ahead of him now and teams will be planning for him.

I think Chris Ogbonnaya is a long-term investment in a dynasty league.  Not happening.

I’m still banking on Reggie Bush staying this hot.  Again, we’ve seen this before.

I own any Broncos receiver. Tim Tebow may be winning games, but he’s killing their collective values.

I have Aaron Hernandez as my top Tight End.  Rob Gronkowski seems to be catching everything.

I’m thinking Felix Jones is going to regain his starting job from DeMarco Murray.

I’m hoping Shonn Greene can contribute for your team right now.  He’s just losing time to emerge and McKnight looked a lot better this week.

I’m banking on Brandon Jacobs to be one of my top options. You probably have to roll with him, but he’s been unimpressive.

I have Fred Jackson as my top running back.  Losing him for the season is huge.

I’m wanting Beanie Wells to push my team into the playoffs. He’s hurt and the Cardinals are playing Rich Bartel. Do the math.

A Look Ahead to Hot Names on the Week Eleven Waiver Wire

1. Evan Royster, RB WAS

Jacksonville WRs and Washington RBs tend to be like crack to me.  Let’s go with Royster now that Choice has been cut.

2. Caleb Hanie, QB CHI

I don’t have a ton of faith in him, but he should certainly be rostered.

Jacksonville WRs and Washington RBs tend to be like crack to me.  Let’s go with Royster now that Choice has been cut.
