20/20 with Peter Lawrence
This week, DLF writer and police detective, Peter Lawrence, spent a few minutes answering some questions so you could get to know him a bit more. Enjoy!
Where are you from?
I was born in New Jersey but made the move out to the Pacific NorthWest when I was very young. We made the move to Bellevue, Washington when I was a kid and I have spent most of my life around the eastside of Lake Washington outside of Seattle.
What do you do for your regular job?
I have spent nearly a decade in civil service as a Police Officer and have been a Detective for the past year.
What is the worst job you have ever had?
None, it is all about mindset. I have worked for poor supervisors that have made work environments bad and made me question what I am doing at times but don’t consider any of them a “worst” job.
What is the best job you have ever had?
Being a Marine and being a Police Officer. Being a Police Officer is incredibly rewarding for me even in the current climate. To me, it is a job that is built upon truth, justice, and service. A long time ago I dedicated my life to “Protecting those who cannot protect themselves” and that has built the ethos of who I am and what I push myself to represent every day.
What do you consider your dream job?
Chaplin for the Marines
How long have you been in the industry?
Since 2017.
How did you get your break into fantasy football?
I started off working with Rotounderworld and then made the move to Dynasty Football Factory before coming to DLF.
What tool do you use the most on DLF?
Probably would have to be the Trade Calculator
What tool do you use the most outside of DLF?
ADP data that Ryan so graciously puts together.
Who was the best sleeper you pegged that broke out?
I was incredibly high on Nick Chubb but I don’t think that qualifies as a “sleeper”. Was very high on Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed which did pay off last season at least.
Who was your biggest whiff?
N’Keal Harry. Took a stand on what I saw and have to this point missed.
What is the worst trade you have made?
Melvin Gordon for incoming rookie Corey Coleman…
Who is your favorite underfollowed Twitter account?
Not a clue. There are a lot of great people churning out content these days.
Who is your favorite NFL team?
Seahawks
Who is your favorite college football team?
University of Washington Huskies
Who was your favorite player growing up?
Not sure if I had one specific “favorite player”. On the baseball side, it would be Ken Griffey Jr. and for the Seahawks probably Cortez Kennedy.
Who is your favorite player of all time?
It is probably Ken Griffey Jr, who would have set plenty of records had he stayed healthy.
What other hobbies or passions do you have outside of fantasy football?
A big part of #FFFitClub, I have always had a passion for fitness. Time with my family. Time in scripture.
What are some of your favorite movies?
Tropic Thunder is one of my all-time favorite comedies. Then the Band of Brothers series and Saving Private Ryan. Black Hawk Down is a favorite also. A huge fan of the Marvel Universe. Team #SnyderCut.
Who are some of your favorite bands?
I’ll listen to almost anything. I can listen to music from Rage Against the Machine to Miley Cyrus. From gospel music 90s hip hop and rap.
