Week Thirteen Waiver Wire Advice

Ken Kelly

moreno4We cover some of the hot names on the majority of dynasty league waiver wires each week for our premium content members.  These players will likely be owned in a great minority of dynasty leagues.  We won’t waste your time with bigger names who are likely owned in your league and also don’t cover names we’ve already mentioned in the past. While most other sites are listing Knowshon Moreno as the hot pickup this week, my favorite site mentioned him last week.

We’re simply going to cover some players who could be targets this week if you have an open roster spot and are willing to throw a dart and hope to get lucky.

Just remember one very important thing – you’re in a dynasty league, not a re-draft league. Don’t get too enamored by the one hit wonders and drop your young projects in a quest to find lightning in a bottle. Savvy dynasty league owners will tell you the best players on the wire each and every year end up being the ones dropped by impatient owners, not the ones who suddenly break out. Again, we won’t repeat any names here, so check out the names we’ve already mentioned at the bottom of this list.

One caveat if you haven’t been following this column this season.  This is quite honestly the single worst season I can remember on the waiver wire. When you look at the laundry list of names, it’s not exactly an all-pro cast. There have been a few worthy picks, but not many. It’s getting skinnier by the week, so remember to check out the long laundry list of prior suggestions at the bottom.

With that being said, here are this week’s picks in order of priority:

1. Cole Beasley, WR DAL

Again, this is a huge shot in the dark for owners in PPR leagues, but if you have a thin roster (and a deep one), Beasley did post seven catches for 68 yards last week and Miles Austin is hurt yet again.

2. Tiquan Underwood, WR TB

We’ve been pretty hesitant on suggesting Underwood since he’s really no better than the third wide receiver in Tampa Bay, but his targets are going up, as indicated by his five-catch, 77 yard day yesterday. He’s still just 25, though it seems he’s been kicking around the league for a while.

3. Graham Harrell, QB GB

If Aaron Rodgers keeps getting hit this much, his owners should at least be prepared if they don’t have a good QB2.

4. Jeremy Stewart, RB OAK

If McFadden is still out this week (though he’s expected back), Stewart is getting a handful of carries. Again, this is to fill an open spot at best.

Side note: If for some reason an owner in your league has cut bait on Mario Manningham, I’d make a claim there – Colin Kaepernick seems to hone in on him quite often. In addition, it’s never too early to start looking ahead at the schedule to think about teams who may be sitting players here soon – we’ll start looking at that when it starts to become a little more clear.
