Tim Riordan

The NFL Draft is behind us, rookie drafts are taking place, and as dynasty managers we are looking ahead to the upcoming season. In our Dynasty Rookie Post-Draft Update series, we break down all the incoming fantasy-relevant rookies, looking at their profiles and where they fit. The basis of the rookie profile involves the usage of STORM analysis, focusing on five key components: Situation, Talent, Opportunity, Risk, and Market.

Situation

Name: Devontez Walker

Position: Wide Receiver

Pro Team: Baltimore Ravens

College Team: North Carolina (Transferred from Kent State)

Draft Status: Round 4; Pick 113

Walker, who goes by Tez, hails from Charlotte, NC and attended West Charlotte High School. He played both ways as a defensive back and a wide receiver, leading West Charlotte to a state playoff victory in 2018. A three-star recruit in the 2019 class, Walker originally committed to East Carolina but had second thoughts after head coach Scottie Montgomery was fired after the 2018 season. Late in the process, he committed to East Tennessee State, but suffered a torn ACL three months before he was expected to report to campus. He spent the 2019 season healing and training before committing to North Carolina Central. Unfortunately, the pandemic forced NCC to cancel their 2020 season, and Walker spent another season off the football field.
