Savvy fantasy football managers focus on all positions of a football team, including the coaching staff. Off-season changes can hugely impact skill players’ production at certain positions. Each week, we will look at one of the eight coaches who have found new homes and examine the potential dynasty impact on the key members of that team. We have a bonus this season. Our resident IDP expert, Tom Kislingbury, has joined us to cover the defensive impact of the changes.
We have another first-time coach getting their shot for the Tennessee Titans. We all know Nashville is the place to be if you want to get discovered as a country artist. Let’s see if Brian Callahan can make a name for himself down in Music City.
Callahan began his coaching career as a graduate assistant while attending UCLA in 2006 and 2007. The son of long-time coach Bill Callahan then went on to coach with the Broncos from 2010 to 2015. From there, he worked his way up to the quarterbacks coach of the Detroit Lions (2016-2017) and then Oakland Raiders (2018).
The younger Callahan then got his first gig as an offensive coordinator with Cincinnati in 2019, where he stayed until the end of the 2023 season. He then took the job as the new Titans head coach on January 24, 2024. It is worth noting he brought his dad along with him to be his offensive line coach. It is a wise move by Brian as the elder Callahan has nearly 30 years of experience coaching in the NFL, including two years as a head coach.
In Cincinnati, Brian worked under Zac Taylor every year he was with the Bengals. As most of us know by now, Taylor stems from the Sean McVay tree and employs tendencies of his offense. It is likely we will see some similarities in that offense in Nashville in 2024.
