  • Brock Purdy QB SF
By: May 16 4:17 PM EST

The 49ers have signed quarterback Brock Purdy to a contract extension.

    Dynasty Analysis

Purdy is reportedly getting a five-year extension worth $265 million, with $165 million guaranteed the first three new years. In other words, he's locked in permanently in San Francisco. Purdy was once Mr. Irrelevant in the 2022 NFL Draft, but beat out Trey Lance and anyone else in his path to be the new franchise quarterback. From a dynasty perspective, Purdy looks more like a low-end QB1 than elite option, but he's also poised for a pretty solid bounce back this season.

    Derrick Henry RB BAL
By: May 16 12:51 PM EST

The Baltimore Ravens have signed running back Derrick Henry to a contract extension.

    Dynasty Analysis

It's a two year deal worth $30 million and represents the largest contract ever given to a running back over 30 years old. It's a solid raise for Henry, who rewarded Baltimore with a whopping 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns in his first year away from Tennessee. This should lock him in for the rest of his career and Henry looks like the ultimate buy candidate for a contending dynasty team squarely in their championship window.

    Trey Sermon RB PIT
By: May 11 1:43 PM EST

The Steelers have signed running back Trey Sermon.

    Dynasty Analysis

Sermon was once a pretty fun dynasty hold but he's flamed out in San Francisco, Philadelphia and Indianapolis. He'd be an interesting stash again should he make the team, but it's hard to see too much relevance here as he'd be behind the likes of Jaylen Warren and Kaleb Johnson. Dynasty managers can likely just move along.

    Tyler Shough QB NO
By: May 10 11:01 AM EST

Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough is in line to be the starter with the news of Derek Carr's retirement.

    Dynasty Analysis

The Saints took Shough with the 40th pick in last year's NFL Draft and it now makes perfect sense as to why they were so focused on scouting quarterbacks this off-season. Barring the Saints adding a veteran like Aaron Rodgers or Kirk Cousins in the coming months, this looks like the break he needed to start. There are a lot of questions about Shough, but there isn't a ton of competition as he'll likely need to beat out Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener for the job.

    Derek Carr QB
By: May 10 10:56 AM EST

The Saints have announced quarterback Derek Carr's retirement from the NFL.

    Dynasty Analysis

Wow. It seems the shoulder injury he's reportedly been dealing with is indeed very serious. There was some speculation Carr was posturing for an exit out of New Orleans and wasn't happy with the team's direction and while that may be true, this injury is reportedly going to end his career. It's a tough break for the team and obviously for Carr himself, who will end his career with 41,245 passing yards and 257 touchdowns - not bad for the "other" Carr, who was never as heralded as his brother, but performed much better over his 11-year career.

    Jonathon Brooks RB CAR
By: May 8 12:48 PM EST

The Panthers have placed running back Jonathon Brooks on injured reserve.

    Dynasty Analysis

Brooks will miss the entire 2025-26 season as a result. Dealing with his second major injury, it's fair to wonder just what Brooks may actually be able to contribute moving forward. Unfortunately, most dynasty managers who have him used a first round draft pick on him last year, making his roster spot one they can't really give up on quite yet. However, this has a real "Marcus Lattimore" vibe to it and his career really is in question at the moment. He's a hold in dynasty leagues at the moment and hopefully this year off can help him get his career started.

    Jordan Matthews WR
By: May 8 12:45 PM EST

The Panthers have released tight end Jordan Matthews.

    Dynasty Analysis

Matthews was once a promising receiver prospect in Philadelphia, but his career fizzled and the move to tight end hasn't worked out. He may have a hard time finding work at this point and is nowhere close to dynasty rosters.

    Gabe Davis WR
By: May 7 9:38 AM EST

The Jaguars have released wide receiver Gabe Davis.

    Dynasty Analysis

Davis had some solid seasons in Buffalo, scoring 27 touchdowns over his four seasons with the Bills. This led him to signing with Jacksonville last year as they hoped he could form a nice receiving duo with Brian Thomas Jr. That simply never happened as Davis posted just 20 catches for 239 yards and two scores over ten games. The Jags are taking a $20 million cap hit to release Davis but obviously find him to be unnecessary now that they have Travis Hunter, who now has an even easier road to targets. Davis should latch on somewhere in the coming weeks, but his dynasty value has evaporated.

    George Pickens WR DAL
By: May 7 9:35 AM EST

The Steelers have traded wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys.

    Dynasty Analysis

Despite Pickens saying he wanted to stay in Pittsburgh and the Steelers also saying they were fine keeping him, this marriage had simply run its course. Pittsburgh will reportedly receive a 2026 third round pick and a 2027 fifth round pick in exchange for their disgruntled wideout. Pickens will slide into the Cowboys offense as the clear WR2 next to CeeDee Lamb and should find it possible to post similar seasons as he has in the past with close to 60 catches, 1,000 yards and a handful of touchdowns as long as he stays engaged, which has always been a bit of a challenge.

    Tank Dell WR HOU
By: May 4 8:20 PM EST

Tank Dell is unlikely to play next season as he recovers from surgery.

    Dynasty Analysis

As if the Texans drafting not one, but two receivers from Iowa State didn't clue you in, this latest report states what most dynasty managers were assuming - we aren't going to see Dell for a while. It's tough news to swallow, but also not much of a surprise as Dell suffered a catastrophic knee injury late last season. He'll remain a good roster stash, but his dynasty value has really sunk as a result of not one, but now two serious injuries during his time in the NFL.
