Denzel Mims has been waived by the Lions

The ankle injury ultimately forced the team's hand and he may still be re-added on an IR designation after he clears waivers. Mims has been a bust since his round-two selection by the Jets in 2020. He doesn't figure to be relevant in the future though he had garnered some positive reviews from his play in camp. Denzel Mims is unranked on DLF's receiver rankings.

Denzel Mims has been traded to the Lions in return for a conditional sixth-round pick

The Lions will also receive a 2025 seventh-round selection. Mims was a second-round selection by the Jets in 2020 but was never able to find consistent production or a starting role, eventually growing frustrated. He gets a new start in an offense which could provide opportunities. Unranked on DLF's receiver rankings, there's no reason to add Mims at this time but he'll be a name to monitor as training camp progresses.

Denzel Mims faces an uphill battle to make the Jets final roster

It's not a hard call to make when looking at the Jets receiver room, headlined by Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman, Corey Davis and Aaron Rodgers favorite Randall Cobb. The fourth-year receiver has done just enough to hang around and is now in a contract year, a release possibly giving the big receiver a chance with a new team. In either case, there's little reason to roster Mims, DLF's WR52.
