comment Pierce was considered a possible top-five pick coming into the year, but he didn�t have the type of season he was expecting at Tennessee. His 4.47 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine had scouts drooling. He is a pure weakside speed rusher that doesn�t give a team much else. Atlanta traded back into the first round to grab Pierce, so they think a lot of him. He has huge boom or bust potential, especially with the Falcons� track record of developing pass rushers.

comment Falcons paid a handsome price for the right to draft Pearce, who offers length, quickness and speed and probably needs to add some weight to his frame so he can better play the run. Reported character concerns surely contributed to his drafted position.
