James Laurinaitis News

  • TJ Hockenson could miss opener · Feb 8, 2024

Vikings tight end TJ Hockenson may be out until October.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone paying attention as Hockenson experienced a lot of swelling after tearing his ACL and had to delay surgery by close to a month. It's a tough break in dynasty leagues as managers are likely going to need to find a streaming option for the start of next season. While he should recover fully eventually, expect next year to be a bit of a down season for the elite option as he works himself back. Regardless, Hockenson has established himself as a top-3 option moving forward - buy low if you can.

  • TJ Hockensen has surgery · Jan 30, 2024

Vikings tight end TJ Hockenson underwent successful surgery to repair his torn ACL this week.

It's been more than a month since the injury occurred so you have to believe Hockenson experienced some pretty serious swelling afterwards. It's likely not that significant of a development but having surgery this late in the year could put his availability for the season opener in jeopardy. Regardless, Hockenson has established himself as a top-3 option at the position and this won't change that.

  • T.J. Hockenson tears ACL/MCL · Dec 27, 2023

T.J. Hockenson tore both his ACL and MCL in the team's loss to the Lions in week 16.

The injury drum beats on, now sidelining one of the top tight ends in the game. With just over nine months to go before the start of the 2024 regular season, Hockenson will be in a race to be back on the field in week one. Full rehabilitation from tearing both ligaments can be extended. Hockenson turns 27 next July and there's no reason to expect anything less than a full recovery but it's an unfortunate injury for the top playmaker. He's currently listed as DLF's TE1 but may slip in value heading into the offseason.

  • Ja'Marr Chase makes statement · Oct 9, 2023

Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase had 15 catches for 192 yards and three touchdowns in Cincinnati's road win against Arizona.

Chase had a pretty nice season on Sunday as the Cardinals just couldn't do anything to stop him. It was a huge day for Chase, who had yet to score a single touchdown coming into the day While the Bengals need to do this against some better competition, this was a great sign as Joe Burrow and Chase finally looked like the duo we've seen so many times before. Chase is comfortably set as our WR2, behind only Justin Jefferson.

  • Ja'Marr Chase disappoints · Sep 18, 2023

Ja'Marr Chase was quiet again in week two, producing 31 yards on 5-of-8 targets

Chase has now produced 70 scoreless yards on 10-of-17 targets. The target volume is there but the Bengals continue to struggle, potentially due to Joe Burrow's lack of time under center in training camp (calf). The NFL's highest paid player reportedly tweaked his calf again during the game which will be a greater concern going forward. Expected to be in the mix for the Super Bowl in 2023, the team is now 0-2 to begin the season and Chase's production is linked to Burrow's availability and performance. He's off to a slow to start toward his goal of rewriting the Bengals record book. The season is young and DLF's WR2 has plenty of time to put together a noteworthy season as long as Burrow's injury doesn't result in a lengthy absence.
