The Wentz trade may throw cold water on any hopes of trading away Darnold, still only 23 years of age. Darnold hasn't performed nearly as well as Wentz and though it's rumored he could now be available for a second-round selection with potentially added late-round compensation, early discussions focused on the Jets desiring first-round compensation so they could use their second-overall 2021 draft pick on Zach Wilson or Justin Fields. With Wentz's value in trade less than expected, it's hard to imagine the Jets getting much more than a second round selection in return. As DLF's fading QB25, a change of scenery would boost Darnold's near-term value. Expect movement on this situation as we get closer to the 2021 NFL Draft.
