It was a unique way to announce his decision to be sure. The 36 year old was expected to hang up the cleats so his decision comes as no surprise. The Redskins have great need at the position and with Davis out of the picture, Jordan Reed not expected to return and only Jeremy Sprinkle and Hale Hentges remaining, expect it to be a primary focus during the NFL Draft and/or free agency. For Davis, who could muster only 35 receptions and three touchdowns over the past two years and suffered from concussions with the Redskins, he'll be far more remembered for his years with the 49'ers and two years (2009, 2013) when he scored 13 touchdowns while nearly eclipsing 1,000 yards. Over his career he amassed a 583/7,562/63 line. He can be safely removed from any future dynasty rosters.
