Diagnosed as a foot sprain, the MRI will tell the story as to how much time Freeman is expected to miss. He hasn't played in a full 16-game season since 2016 and only has two full seasons logged in his six year career. On the year, Freeman has only tallied 371 yards on 107 attempts and has yet to score a touchdown on the ground, though does have three touchdowns on 38 receptions, proving his worth in the passing game. Recently signed to a large contract, the Falcons do have a potential out in 2020 though it would carry a $6M dead cap hit and the move isn't likely. Backup Ito Smith's season has already ended as he was sent to I.R. last week and 2017 fifth round selection Brian Hill has been showing well in relief but the Falcons will be extremely thin at the position should Freeman miss time. The 27 year old runner is ranked as DLF's RB24 but is likely to see further declines into the end of 2019.
