With the 12th pick of the fifth round, the Dallas Cowboys selected Texas RB Jaydon Blue.
Dynasty Analysis
Blue introduces speed to the backfield that neither Williams nor Sanders can replicate, which could equate to more playing time than we would otherwise see out of a fifth-round selection. We've seen both veterans lose work due to inefficient play in recent seasons, so they could both be in trouble of losing touches right out of the gate if Blue hits the ground running.
The Dallas Cowboys have signed running back Javonte Williams.
Dynasty Analysis
Williams gets a one-year deal worth $3 million. In other words, he got backup money. This is significant as Dallas is still looking for a franchise running back. They could bring back Rico Dowdle, sign someone like Najee Harris, or look at options in the NFL Draft like Ashton Jeanty or Omarion Hampton. Regardless, this is hardly the last move they make to shore up the position and the money spent here makes Williams look like a player who is destined to lose a lot of value this off-season.
The Broncos are not expected to re-sign running back Javonte Williams.
Dynasty Analysis
Williams just hasn't been able to recover from his injuries over the past couple of seasons and look like he once did as a promising young prospect. Williams looks like a player who has lost a lot of his explosiveness and Denver really didn't even use him that much this year, leaning on more of a committee than anything else. Now a free agent, Williams will likely look to get a fresh start elsewhere. His dynasty value continues to sink.
