The Pittsburgh Steelers are in trade discussions for Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith.
Dynasty Analysis
There's nothing imminent here, but Smith is entering the final year of a two-year, $8.4 million contract he signed with the Dolphins in 2024 and has asked for a raise. Miami may be balking at that idea and warming up to the idea of getting compensation back for him instead. After sending away George Pickens, Pittsburgh is in need of playmakers and Smith would help. His 88/884/8 season was by far his best every, so you can see the allure here. Stay tuned.

The Miami Dolphins have traded Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for Minkah Fitzpatrick and a pick swap.
Dynasty Analysis
The Steelers having interest in Smith has been widely reported, but few saw this thing coming with Ramsey and Fitzpatrick being involved. Regardless, Smith rejoins Arthur Smith (now the OC in Pittsburgh whom he worked with in Atlanta). Fresh off a breakout season that featured an 88/884/8 line, Smith will also sign a one-year, $12 million extension with the Steelers, which puts him under contract through the 2026 season. Expecting similar numbers with Pittsburgh is going to be tough as he'll share some snaps with Pat Freiermuth. Still, the Steelers need pass catchers and he can play multiple positions. He looks more like a high-end TE2 than a TE1 next year, but time will tell.
