Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough is in line to be the starter with the news of Derek Carr's retirement.
Dynasty Analysis
The Saints took Shough with the 40th pick in last year's NFL Draft and it now makes perfect sense as to why they were so focused on scouting quarterbacks this off-season. Barring the Saints adding a veteran like Aaron Rodgers or Kirk Cousins in the coming months, this looks like the break he needed to start. There are a lot of questions about Shough, but there isn't a ton of competition as he'll likely need to beat out Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener for the job.

The New Orleans Saints drafted Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough with the 40th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Dynasty Analysis
There were rumors Shough was a late riser on draft boards and that proved to be true as he ended up being a high second round pick of the New Orleans Saints. This is a great landing spot for Shough as Derek Carr's future is less than certain. It's quite possible he competes for the starting job as soon as next season and while there are serious questions about his accuracy and durability, this is a player who is seasoned and clearly a favorite of Saints brass. His rookie stock is on the rise big-time as a high risk, high reward selection this Spring.
