The Saints have announced quarterback Derek Carr's retirement from the NFL.
Dynasty Analysis
Wow. It seems the shoulder injury he's reportedly been dealing with is indeed very serious. There was some speculation Carr was posturing for an exit out of New Orleans and wasn't happy with the team's direction and while that may be true, this injury is reportedly going to end his career. It's a tough break for the team and obviously for Carr himself, who will end his career with 41,245 passing yards and 257 touchdowns - not bad for the "other" Carr, who was never as heralded as his brother, but performed much better over his 11-year career.

Carr is dealing with what seems to be both a serious shoulder issue and quite possibly a real unwillingness to want to play for the Saints at the moment. With Shough in the fold, New Orleans looks poised to move on should things not work out with Carr. It's a story that's starting to get multiple chapters but that's also going to have a clear ending this Summer. Stay tuned.
Saints quarterback Derek Carr is dealing with a significant shoulder injury.
Dynasty Analysis
The injury is reportedly significant enough to possibly require surgery and threatens his availability for the upcoming season. The Saints were supposedly looking at quarterbacks in this year's NFL Draft, but this sure did escalate quickly. With the veteran market drying up, New Orleans could be in some trouble. In regards to Carr, his dynasty value is starting to tumble as it seems he's no longer viewed as a long-term answer for the Saints and could even be damaged goods.
