Once looked upon as the possible future in New England, Zappe has fallen back to Earth in short order after failing to live up to the hype with the Patriots for more than a few games, then looking pretty pedestrian in his time with the Browns. At this point, it looks like he'll compete with Gardner Minshew for the backup job but that seems like a competition he'll surely come up short in. While he merits some watching, Zappe should remain on waiver wires.
