Soon-to-be free agent quarterback Sam Darnold has been linked to the Raiders.
Dynasty Analysis
This isn't the first time we've seen Darnold's name floated as a possibility for Las Vegas and likely won't be the last. It makes a lot of sense after the Raiders failed to hit on either Gardner Minshew or Aidan O'Connell last year and are in dire need of a new signal caller. In addition, they are likely out of range when it comes to drafting a franchise quarterback as their pick currently sits at #6 overall. Darnold is looking to cash in for the first time in his career after a spectacular season in Minnesota. While not a truly elite player in fantasy or reality, Darnold really did prove to be a capable starter and would be a huge upgrade in Las Vegas. Regardless, Darnold looks like a player who should be a starter and a fringe QB1 next season.

The Seahawks have signed quarterback Sam Darnold.
Dynasty Analysis
The deal is for three years and over $100 million with $55 million guaranteed. It's a big deal for a quarterback with one year of elite-level performance, but Seattle clearly believes he's turned the corner. It's fair to wonder just what he'll be able to post stats-wise with DK Metcalf in Pittsburgh and Tyler Lockett now a free agent. At least he'll have Jaxon Smith-Njigba to throw to. Darnold looks more like a QB2 than QB1, but let's see what the roster looks like in a month or two as Seattle still has money to burn.
(Source: ESPN)The Seahawks are reportedly targeting Sam Darnold to replace Geno Smith.
Dynasty Analysis
The Seahawks got a third round pick from Las Vegas in exchange for Smith and are now apparently looking ahead to the future. Darnold could be a relatively cheap option on a three-year deal as he clearly proved he's capable of running an NFL offense last season. Still, this could be a pretty big risk as he's only really had one good season in his NFL career. Regardless, Darnold is going to be an NFL starter next season in Seattle or elsewhere and has the ceiling of a QB1. Stay tuned as his future is in clear flux.
(Source: NY Post)Quarterback Sam Darnold avoided the franchise tag from Minnesota and will become a free agent.
Dynasty Analysis
This always looked like the most likely scenario. Still, the Vikings are risking him finding greener pastures elsewhere after he proved he can (and should) be a starter in the NFL last season. After posting 4,319 passing yards with 35 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, Darnold will have a market with teams like Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, the Giants, and maybe even the Jets interested in his services. The Vikings are also working hard to get him back into the fold as well. Darnold should be a QB2 next season at worst and the best scenario for dynasty managers is honestly to see him move on instead of being threatened by JJ McCarthy in Minnesota.
(Source: Ian Rapaport on X)Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold is likely to hit free agency.
Dynasty Analysis
This really isn't much of a surprise. The Vikings have JJ McCarthy as their quarterback of the future and invested a lot in him. Darnold was a revelation for most of the season but faded just a touch in the last few games. While he could be back in Minnesota, it seems likely he'll land some kind of a deal elsewhere, like Las Vegas or New York. Regardless, he's certainly proved capable of being a starter and should be a solid QB2 at worst for the next few years. His dynasty value has certainly been rehabilitiated.
(Source: The Athletic)Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed 22-of-35 passes for 246 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in a win against Seattle.
Dynasty Analysis
With a whopping 15 touchdowns and just one interception in his past six games, Darnold is clearly making Minnesota think about what they need to do moving forward at the position. JJ McCarthy is waiting in the wings, but it's hard to imagine him doing anything close to what Darnold has done this season. Regardless, a quarterback who is likely going to throw for more than 4,000 yards and upwards of 35 touchdowns is going to be starting somewhere soon. The Jets have to be kicking themselves at this point.
Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed 22-of-28 passes for 347 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions in a win against Atlanta.
Dynasty Analysis
Darnold may not be the starter in Minnesota next season, but a player who has already posted 3,299 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and just ten interceptions through just 13 games likely won't have a hard time finding another team willing to commit to him. Darnold has had some rough spots here and there this season, but Minnesota has to be thrilled with what he's done. At this point, his dynasty value is stable, but it would increase quickly should a team sign him to start for them for longer than one season this off-season.
Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed 24-of-38 passes for 241 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions in a win against Jacksonville.
Dynasty Analysis
Darnold was white hot at the beginning of the season but has just three touchdowns and five interceptions the past two weeks. To make things worse, Darnold's interceptions were all deep inside Jags territory and those red zone turnovers were nearly killers for the Vikings. He'll remain a QB2 moving forward as he essentially auditions for other teams this season with JJ McCarthy waiting in the wings.
Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed just 14-of-31 passes for 179 yards with no touchdowns and an interception in the Vikings win against the Jets.
Dynasty Analysis
Darnold did what he could after losing Aaron Jones to a hip injury, but this was by far his worst game of the season. Amazingly, Darnold still sits on top of the world after five weeks with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions on the season. While he may not be completely matchup proof, he'll remain a solid QB1 option moving forward.
Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed 20-of-28 passes for 275 yards with three touchdowns and one interception in a win against the Packers.
Dynasty Analysis
With 11 touchdowns, three interceptions, and 932 passing yards through four games this year, Darnold has been one of the biggest stories of the season in fantasy and reality. With JJ McCarthy out for the year, Darnold has taken his latest opportunity and proven he's capable of being a very good starting quarterback in the league. The Vikings are going to have decisions to make down the road, but Darnold is looking like a bona fide QB1 in dynasty leagues for the moment - just accept it.
