Four Running Backs to Buy, Sell, or Hold in Dynasty Leagues

Wyatt Bertolone

Welcome to the positional Buy Sell Hold series, where each week I’ll be focusing on one position to analyze four players and what we should be doing with them in dynasty. This week, running backs are on the menu.

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB DET – Hold

In Gibbs’ second season in the NFL, he established himself as one of the best running backs in the league. On the season, he finished with 21.3 PPR points per game while with nearly 2,000 total yards and 20 total touchdowns. Gibbs was incredibly efficient, averaging 8.2 yards per touch on the year. He especially lit it up while David Montgomery missed time. Entering 2025, Montgomery remains on the team, and Ben Johnson has left for Chicago. Can Gibbs keep up his incredible play? Should we pay the high price to attain him?

The Move – Gibbs has one of the highest ceiling projections in football, evidenced by 2024. If he gets more of the backfield share, like he did while David Montgomery was hurt, Gibbs’ projection is nearly unrivaled. Gibbs is now rightfully valued at the top of everyone’s dynasty rankings and will be quite hard to acquire. In general, I don’t like to buy running backs who sit atop the dynasty landscape since they’ve got the shortest shelf life in fantasy football, and you can normally find older veteran production for cheaper. But I’m also not selling Gibbs if I have him. There’s an extremely good chance that if you have him, you’re already a competing team and would want him for another championship run in 2025.

Chase Brown, RB CIN – Buy
