Four Tight Ends to Buy, Sell, or Hold in Dynasty Leagues

Welcome to the Positional Buy Sell Hold series, where each week I’ll be focusing on one position to analyze four players and what we should be doing with them in dynasty. Today I’ll be looking at four very different tight ends.
Tucker Kraft, TE GB – Buy
This time last year, the question was which tight end did you want in Green Bay, Tucker Kraft or Luke Musgrave? Both were good prospects with solid draft capital. Musgrave began the season as the starter before getting injured. Kraft took over and produced better than Musgrave had, but many questioned how real it was. The real answer was there all along though, as Kraft played over Musgrave to end the season when both were healthy. Kraft then went on to be the Packers tight end to own in 2024, scoring 9.5 PPR points per game. Kraft’s dynasty value rightfully skyrocketed through the season, and he looks like a value tight end to have for years to come.
The Move – Tucker Kraft is in a bit of a crowded situation playing next to multiple quality wide receivers but it’s not as crowded as it seems. The Packers rotate their wide receivers constantly and Kraft actually played more snaps per game than any of them. He played over 85% of the Packers’ offensive snaps in 2024 and proved to be a very good player after the catch, making big plays happen when many others wouldn’t. With Kraft’s young age and predictable production, he’s a target for all teams. Less than a first-round rookie pick is an easy price to pay for Kraft. You could also try tiering down from Mark Andrews or Dalton Kincaid.
Kyle Pitts, TE ATL – Sell
Another year, another season of Kyle Pitts letting down all his supporters. Since his rookie year, Pitts has continued to fail to live up to the expectations put on him as one of the most athletic tight ends to ever play in the NFL. In 2024 Pitts averaged just 7.7 PPR points per game, which makes it three straight years in which he’s failed to score at least 8.0 PPR PPG. We thought Pitts could be a matchup nightmare for defenses but he’s now in no man’s land as a player. He’s too poor of a blocker to play in-line on a regular basis and injuries have affected his ability to get open against defensive backs, leading to Pitts playing less frequently than he needs to be a top asset. Is it time to give up?
The Move – Somehow Kyle Pitts seems to be retaining low-end TE1 value, as evidenced by the latest Dynasty League Football Startup ADP. This is an easy sell. Pitts is stuffed to the rafters with potential but he just can’t put it together fully. Him being “positionless” was once seen as what made him special but it’s actually been a detriment as he doesn’t really fit in anywhere on offense. Maybe one day he figures things out but I’m not counting on that happening in 2025. Sell Pitts for Tucker Kraft, Jonnu Smith, or Evan Engram and a plus. You can always buy back in later if you want to.
Isaiah Likely, TE BAL – Hold
2024 was a big year for Likely. He has always performed quite well when given the opportunity but before last year, that only happened when Mark Andrews was injured. In 2024 we saw Likely earn a solid opportunity even when Andrews was healthy and outproducing him at times. For the season, Likely averaged 8.0 PPR PPG while setting new career highs in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. We know that Likely is talented and can produce at a high level but will he get his chance to be “the guy” for the Ravens anytime soon? Andrews is still under contract but there have been rumors that he could be on the move.
The Move – There’s a wide range of possibilities for Likely in 2025 but a poor outcome seems unlikely as he just has too many outs. Even if Mark Andrews remains on the team and stays healthy Likely will be a big part of the Ravens’ offense as he’s too good not to be on the field. I’d rather be early than late on Likely but apparently so would the rest of the dynasty community as he’s already being valued as a fringe TE1 by most. Unfortunately, that means he’s just a hold for now. If you can find someone willing to sell for closer to TE20 prices, jump on it but otherwise I would hold off. Perhaps we’re able to get a better price closer to the season if Andrews is still on the team.
Travis Kelce, TE KC – League Dependent
Kelce may be showing his age more and more with each passing year but he still continues to produce at a respectable level. Despite having a career low three touchdowns on the season, Kelce was still able to average 12 PPR PPG and had four weeks in which he scored over 20 points in 2024. Many thought last year could have been his final season but Kelce has committed to playing in 2025. How much faith to have in Kelce for another season is a tough question. In addition to obviously declining Kelce has to battle Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice, and Marquise Brown for targets.
The Move – Kelce is one of those players who’s going to have very different values from league to league. In some places, he will have retained dynasty value on name alone. In others he’ll be worth next to nothing as all assume he’s too dusty. Finding the right prices for both buying and selling is key here. I’d sell Kelce for a mid-second rookie round pick anywhere I have him but would sell for any second if I’m a rebuilding team. On the other side I will only buy if the price is a third-round rookie pick or less.
As the NFL Draft draws closer with every day, new trade opportunities arise. Don’t miss yours.
