Dynasty Fantasy Football Trading Post: Dak Prescott

We are making another stop on our value quest in the off-season. First, we talked about impending free agents, second, we talked about a rookie coming off of a less-than-stellar campaign, then we talked about a rookie who might have pushed himself into the upper tiers of his position. Our next stop is injured players. The player I chose to write about is one I wrote about last year but for different reasons. Last year it was because his name didn’t give off any sexy vibes but he was still producing like a top-tier player so his price of acquisition felt like a no-brainer. Now, coming off of a mid-season injury, the price will be even nicer to acquire…
Dak Prescott, QB DAL

Regardless of the situation of your team, I would give up these picks for Prescott. This is far too cheap for a quarterback who has shown year after year that he can produce as a top-ten quarterback. Even if you are rebuilding there isn’t anything you will get with these picks that will replace the value of the quarterback, even if you intend to draft a different position. Don’t just sell for any picks, make sure you are getting your value worth.

This trade hits a lot of our trade tax notes. Team B is paying the QB tax, where they are receiving a quarterback but not sending one in return, and the twofer tax, where they are sending two players for one, but is it enough? There is a major tier break after AJ Brown when talking about the pieces that team B is giving up and it turns into changing a dollar for quarters. Personally, I have AJ Brown and Jaxon Smith-Njigba closer in value than the Trade Analyzer so this deal turns into Prescott for Travis Kelce, Tank Dell, and 2.10 which feels very light for a quarterback as talented as the Cowboys starter.

I love this tier-down from CJ Stroud to Prescott. In his stellar rookie campaign, Stroud scored 21.7 fantasy points per game. In the same season, Prescott scored 23.0 fantasy points per game. The only positive I see from a move like this is the eight-year age difference between Prescott and Stroud but the question you need to ask is, do you think Prescott will retire in the next two to three seasons? If no, then age doesn’t really come into play here. If that is the case then the upgrade from Tyjae Spears to Bucky Irving is pure profit.
Dak Prescott appears to be perennially undervalued. If you are competing he is a cheap and effective QB to have on your rosters to take you to the playoffs. If you are rebuilding he is still a fine piece to hold onto right now since coming off the injury his value can only go up once we see him starting to throw the ball again. So regardless of your team’s situation go check out the Prescott manager and see if they are willing to part with him for a more than reasonable price like some of these managers were.
