2025 Off-Season Mock Draft: 12-Team, 1QB Startup

I guess it’s that time of the year again. We have reached the official time of the off-season, where we put last year behind us, and we are starting to look ahead to next season. I have written about off-season mock drafts for the last few years, and this year will be no different. In this first edition of 2025, I’ll be looking at a 12-team, single QB startup mock where I had the fifth pick. I started strong, but in the end, I hated the roster I put together, and I learned an important lesson for this year’s coming drafts.
The draft began with four wide receivers, and with the fifth pick, I was going to follow suit. I debated between a couple of names, but Brian Thomas Jr. was an easy pick for me in this spot. He was WR4 as a rookie while playing with Mac Jones as his quarterback for eight games. He has as much ceiling as anyone in the NFL right now at the receiver position.
The rest of the round was fairly chalky, although I was shocked to see Drake London go 1.12, I’m not a believer. His WR5 finish in 2024 was primarily due to an insane 18-target 40-point performance in week 18 when nobody was playing fantasy anymore.
In round two, I went back to the sophomore receiver well, this time selecting last year’s top rookie selection, Marvin Harrison Jr. Young upside receivers are all the rage, so I double-dipped to kick off my draft, and I was thrilled with my start.
There were a few picks in the second round that left me scratching my head. To be fair, there are some odd picks from time to time in these very early mocks as we are setting initial ADP with no other data to go off of. Over time, things tend to normalize. Tee Higgins went a little too early for my liking, and I don’t love Chris Olave or Rashee Rice here, either.
