The Dynasty Aftermath: Top Rushing Performances of All-Time

Ken Kelly

Welcome to DLF’s Dynasty Aftermath. This staple article is our longest running signature piece as we have a little fun after a tough week at the Dynasty League Football office. You’ll find this article will review the week’s happenings in a variety of ways and help set you up for the coming weeks as we spin around the league in the way we know best. Expect it each and every week. I’ve written this column for the past eighteen years (I cannot believe I just typed that) and I love it . I enjoy combing through the stats of the week on Monday night, putting together ridiculous lineups, picking MVPs/LVPs and discussing things to worry about.

That’s not all. I also really love sharing observations, little bits of entertainment or some stories with the community of DLF and picking a theme for this column each week. You really never know what you’re going to get.

Saquon Barkley was a joke this week with a career high 255 rushing yards and over 300 combined yards in the game. Today, I figured I’d share the biggest and craziest rushing and receiving performances of all-time. These are the top rushing performances of all-time (courtesy of Pro Football Reference):

As you can see, this week marked the ninth-highest total in NFL history. Those of us who have been playing this game for long enough can remember a lot of the others, including that crazy one from Jerome Harrison. It was also a top-ten performance of all-time in terms of rushing and receiving in a single game. In short, Barkley is more than back.

Let’s get to it…

Fantasy MVP of the Week

What can you say? We wondered how it would work with Barkley behind a legit offensive line and he’s cruising.

Fantasy LVP of the Week

What is the deal with Diontae Johnson? It seemed like he was being rescued by the Ravens after they traded for him, but after another performance without a catch (and hardly any playing time), it’s fair to wonder if he would have been better off staying with the lowly Panthers. This has just honestly turned weird.

The Unbeatable Lineup of the Week

QB Tua Tagovailoa MIA = 317 passing yards, four total touchdowns
RB Saquon Barkley PHI = 255 rushing yards, four catches, 47 receiving yards, two touchdowns
RB Josh Jacobs GB = 106 rushing yards, three touchdowns
RB Bucky Irving TB = 87 rushing yards, six catches, 64 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Jordan Addison MIN = Eight catches, 162 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Courtland Sutton DEN = Eight catches, 97 receiving yards, two touchdowns
WR Jaylen Waddle MIA = Eight catches, 144 receiving yards, one touchdown
TE Trey McBride ARI = 12 catches, 133 receiving yards

The Underdog Lineup of the Week

QB Cooper Rush DAL = 247 passing yards, two touchdowns
RB Nick Chubb CLE = 59 rushing yards, two touchdowns
RB Ameer Abdullah LV = 28 rushing yards, five catches, 37 receiving yards, one touchdown

WR David Moore CAR = Six catches, 81 receiving yards, one touchdown
WR Tre Tucker LV = Seven catches, 82 receiving yards
TE Noah Gray KC = Four catches, 66 receiving yards, two touchdowns

The Disappointing Lineup of the Week

QB Kyler Murray ARI = 285 passing yards, one interception
RB Jonathon Brooks CAR = Seven rushing yards
RB Audric Estime DEN = 15 rushing yards
RB Javonte Williams DEN = -2 rushing yards, two catches, six receiving yards
WR Christian Watson GB = Four rushing yards
WR Mike Williams PIT = No catches
WR Diontae Johnson BAL = No catches
TE Isaiah Likely BAL = No catches

Gut Checks

I’d be worried if I missed out on Bucky Irving.

I’d be worried if I missed the buying window Nico Collins.

I’d be worried if I was ignoring the consistency of Ladd McConkey.

I’d be worried if I was playing against Saquon Barkley.

I’d be worried if I didn’t cash out on Alvin Kamara. If Taysom Hill is used the way he was two weeks ago, this is trouble.

I’d be worried if I still needed elite numbers from Cade Otton.

I’d be worried if I thought Tyreek Hill didn’t have a big game coming.

I’d be worried if I thought Chuba Hubbard was going away any time soon.

I’d be worried if I needed elite production from Sam LaPorta.

I’d be worried if I was ignoring the recent run from Jaxon Smith-Njigba

I’d be worried if I was doing the same with Jerry Jeudy.

I’d be worried if I was down on Jonathan Taylor.

I’d be worried if I needed big days from Rhamondre Stevenson.

I’d be worried if I thought I knew what to expect from Quentin Johnston.

I’d be worried if I thought Jayden Reed was matchup-proof.

I’d be worried if I missed out on getting Courtland Sutton earlier this year.

I’d be worried if I wasn’t a little disappointed in Kenneth Walker.

I’d be worried if I was relying too much on Kyren Williams. He’s cooled off a lot.

I’d be worried if I had given up on Jordan Addison.

I’d be worried if I was underestimating Trey McBride.

I’d be worried if I needed big numbers every week from D’Andre Swift.

I’d be worried if I wasn’t starting Jonnu Smith.

I’d be worried if I wasn’t a little down on Jordan Love.

I’d be worried if I didn’t think Calvin Ridley still had something left.

I’d be worried if I was ignoring Devaughn Vele.

I’d be worried if I was still starting Cedric Tillman, regardless of matchup.

I’d be worried if I needed big days from Rome Odunze.

I’d be worried if I needed RB1 numbers from JK Dobbins.

I’d be worried if I had given up on Tua Tagovailoa.

I’d be worried if I was building around CJ Stroud. He’s taken a little step back.

I’d be worried if I needed consistency from Najee Harris.

I’d be worried if I missed the buying window on TJ Hockenson.

Dynasty Rookie Rankings

Always check our latest rankings to see the updates throughout the week. These rankings are simply my own.

1.) Brock Bowers, TE LV
Still at the top for me.

Bad week from Murray and the Cards, but he stays.

3.) Malik Nabers, WR NYG
The quarterback situation needs to be fixed.

4.) Brian Thomas, WR JAX
Love his consistency.

5.) Jayden Daniels, QB WAS
Still love him.

6.) Rome Odunze, WR CHI
Starting to sink a little.

7.) Ladd McConkey WR LAC
Starting to rise a little.

8.) Bo Nix, QB DEN
He honestly could end up being the best real-life quarterback of the bunch.

9.) Jonathon Brooks, RB CAR
Quiet debut and the Hubbard contract moves him down.

10.) Bucky Irving, WR TB
He’s been really impressive.
