Dynasty IDP Waiver Wire: Week 12

While the Lions offense has been dominating the NFL and fantasy football, the defensive side of the football has seen its fair share of setbacks. We’re just a few weeks removed from Aidan Hutchinson’s season-ending injury, and now we get the unfortunate news that Alex Anzalone will miss the next 6-8 weeks with a broken forearm. It was a bit of an underwhelming season up to this point for Anzalone, coming off of back-to-back seasons with more than 120 tackles. Coming out of week 11, he only has 51 for the season.
With Anzalone sidelined for most of the rest of the fantasy football season, 2023 first-rounder Jack Campbell should see a boost in IDP value. He’s seen his snap share increase as the year has gone on and he’s been more productive than Anzalone has been. He got a sack this week to go along with nine total tackles. Campbell is on 66% of Sleeper rosters, so he may not be available, but there are some waiver wire options who will see a boost. We’ll discuss them, along with the rest of the week 12 IDP waiver wire.
As a reminder, these waiver wire suggestions are based on dynasty leagues that start seven defensive players, two at each position group and a flex. Some players profiled will be for deeper leagues, and others for more shallow leagues, but with no standard format for IDP leagues, we need to cast a wide net. I’ll be using roster percentage data from Sleeper.

Defensive Linemen
Kwity Paye, DE IND, 33%
Kwity Paye has struggled since missing two games earlier this season with a hamstring injury. He now has a sack in each of the past three games, including two in week eleven’s matchup against The Jets. He also had a season-high seven total tackles in this game. If Paye continues to attack the quarterback like he has been in recent weeks, he’ll be a high-end option on the defensive line. He’s especially valuable in dynasty leagues, still approaching his prime at just 25 years old.
Nik Bonitto, EDGE DEN, 24%
The Broncos defense is proving to be one of the better units in the league, despite the lack of big-name stars. Nik Bonitto is one of those such players, and he’s been a problem in the offensive backfield this year. Bonitto has a sack in eight out of the last nine games, including two this past week against Atlanta. In the next couple of weeks, Broncos pass-rushers get some nice matchups against the Raiders and the Browns going into their week 14 bye.
Braden Fiske, DT LAR, 29%
Fiske was a beast on Sunday, getting two sacks and forcing a fumble against Drake Maye and the Patriots. It’s his second multi-sack game in the past three weeks, and he’s now up to five on the season. In leagues where you need to start a defensive tackle, Fiske could be a star DT in this league for years to come. With the season wrapping up and teams falling out of contention, it may be a good idea to start targeting rookies who are doing well and not very highly owned.
Other Players to Consider: Dante Fowler, EDGE WAS, 27%, Christian Barmore, DT NE, 21%; Calijah Kancey, DE TB, 25%; D.J. Wonnum, DE CAR, 21%; Odafe Oweh, EDGE BAL, 23%; Arden Key, EDGE TEN, 9%, Yetur Gross-Matos, EDGE SF, 5%
Linebackers
Jerome Baker, LB TEN, 36%
I’m making an exception to my 35% rule to mention Baker here. After two goose eggs in Tennessee, Baker saw a major jump in snap-share and earned eight tackles. Jack Gibbens suffered a broken ankle in the game, and Baker, who was already trending towards a much bigger role, completely took over his spot. His rostership should take a big jump this week.
Devin Bush, LB CLE, 16%
Devin Bush’s role increased when Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah went on IR and he’s done well with it. He played 72% of the team’s snaps and had eight tackles for the second week in a row, six of them were solo and two of them were for a loss. They’ll play the Steelers next week, who give up the third most tackles to linebackers in the league.
Malcolm Rodriguez, LB DET, 9%
With Alex Anzalone’s injury we mentioned above, Malcolm Rodriguez is the linebacker on the waiver wire who should see an increased role for the Lions going forward. The 25-year-old already has two sacks this season in the limited role he’s been playing. He was on the field for 90% of the snaps on Sunday, a number that should go up in the coming weeks. While Campbell’s value increases the most with this injury, Rodriguez finds himself on the IDP radar for the rest of the fantasy football season.
Christian Rozeboom, LB LAR, 24%
Christian Rozeboom appears to be over the neck injury that limited him in week 10 against the Dolphins. He’s been having the best season of his career in LA this year and he’s earned a larger role in the defense because of it. He had 11 total tackles against the Patriots this week. The Rams play the Eagles next week, who give up the seventh most tackles to linebackers a game.
Other Players to Consider: Cody Barton, LB DEN, 32%; Pete Werner, LB NO, 31%, Anthony Walker, LB MIA, 12%
Defensive Backs
Kamren Kinchens, S LAR, 15%
Another Rams player makes it onto the waiver wire after a really good game against the Patriots in week eleven. Kinchens, another rookie, recorded eight total tackles in this one. He also notched his third interception of the season and forced his first fumble. It’s the second time in three weeks Kinchens has had two big plays for the Rams defense. The issue with Kinchens is that he is still a part-time player, on the field for only 54% of the snaps this week. With a nose for the football, Kinchens is worth consideration especially in leagues that rewards big plays more than tackles.
Ugo Amadi, S NO, 5%
Since the Saints traded away Marshon Lattimore, Amadi has become nearly an every-down player for the Saints. He had nine total tackles in this one, the second week in a row he notched that number. One week after playing 100% of the snaps for the Saints, he played 90% of them in this one. He is a nice option for a late-season fix at safety if needed.
Jordan Fuller, S CAR, 17% or Xavier Woods, S CAR, 18%
Fuller and Woods were suggestions from last week’s article, but they were going into their bye weeks. Now that they’re back in action again, they become worthwhile pickups. Fuller would be my priority coming off of the hamstring injury that kept him out of weeks four through nine. The Panthers play the Chiefs in a game that could get very ugly. The Chiefs give up the seventh most tackles to safeties in the league.
Other Players to Consider: Deommodore Lenoir, CB SF, 32%; Jordan Fuller, S CAR, 17%; Brandon Stephens, CB BAL, 13%; Carrington Valentine, CB GB, 5%; Nazeeh Johnson, CB KC, 4%; Jaylen McCollough, S LAR, 5%
