Dynasty Injury Forecast: Week Ten

Life in the NFL happens fast. Injuries come and go, but a lot can change in the dynasty valuation of a player in a matter of weeks. This series discusses key details in a player’s current recovery tract and injury projections for the implications on that players’ dynasty value. Christian McCaffrey, RB SF

I believe I have written about McCaffrey in every single article in the DIF series so far, but he remains relevant through it all. Through the last three weeks, he has had zero setbacks in his ramp ups in training and practices and got through his first few practices with the team without issue. He is back, folks, and we should anticipate him reclaiming his goal line, receiving, and third down role within this offense - those are all areas where Jordan Mason has struggled in his attempts to fill his shoes. It is unrealistic to expect 1.01 type of production from McCaffrey at this point, but he will likely have a decent chance at scoring as a high end RB2, low end RB1 right out of the gate in a decent matchup. It truly depends on how the 49ers want to utilize him and if he can score a touchdown. Odds are high that they would prefer to preserve him for the NFL playoffs, but he is the ultimate game changer and one who they will likely rely on in close games. I unfortunately cannot predict if his Achilles will flare back up, since this could theoretically occur at any moment, but it is a great sign that he has been training at a very high level over the last month without any pain or setbacks. He is obviously volatile, but from an injury perspective I would be fine trying to acquire on any remaining injury discount if possible.
