Tactical Transactions: Dynasty Moves to Make Before Week Ten

Eric Hardter

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” -Ferris Bueller

Here at DLF, we perform a monthly ADP analysis to provide the most actionable and current information that can be feasibly obtained. But even with that, we dynasty enthusiasts know that there is additional fluidity on a weekly, daily, and probably even hourly basis, pending the explicit player. Moreover, the comings and goings of week 9 have added to the seasonal evidence already in hand, though, as we know, recency bias is often king.

This is all to say that things are moving at a lightning pace, and the season is hitting its inflection point as it relates to teams declaring their intentions (if they haven’t already done so). There is assuredly room for a measured approach, but when it comes to players producing, particularly in an aberrant manner, the value window may shut quickly. Get in, get out, do what you need to do, but pace may be important!

Disclaimer! As you’re well aware by the fact you’ve come to a website entitled dynastyleaguefootball.com, we’re still taking a long view into account in addition to each player’s weekly (and year-to-date) output. Guidance will continue to take into account a player’s current stature in tools such as DLF’s ADP and rankings, in addition to how he’s performed.

One last note: as I’m referencing DLF ADP and rankings, advice herein is for a 12-team, non-superflex setting with full PPR scoring. Divergent league settings (both for starting positions and scoring) hopefully shouldn’t render this advice as not actionable, but it’s an important disclaimer nonetheless.

With that preamble in hand, here are the tactical transactions you should consider before week 10:

Buy (All Teams / Contending Slant)

Saquon Barkley, RB PHI

Week 9 Line: 27-159-1, 3-40-1 (4 targets), one incredible “no-look” hurdle

Perhaps my greatest anticipation for the November ADP is how the mock drafters will approach the once, current, and possibly still future king. The PPR RB3 on the season, despite Philly already having had their bye week, Barkley has turned back the clock to his early career numbers in averaging 21.9 PPR points per week. It’s true this is a bit off Christian McCaffrey’s 2023 pace (24.7 PPR PPG), and Derrick Henry is still leading the way – but Barkley’s resurgence is one of the biggest storylines of the fantasy season.

At 27 years old, Barkley is no spring chicken. However, considering this is his seventh season in the league, he stands at a reasonable 1,691 career touches, suggesting there should be tread left on his tires. And while he has a bit of a checkered injury history, he’s aced the eye test this season, asserting all that was needed was a functional offense.
