Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden was not selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Read moreIf you play in IDP leagues, I think you'll agree one of the most challenging parts is deciding where to squeeze in defensive players among their offensive counterparts on draft day. I wanted to look at ADP data from MFL rookie dynasty drafts to see where this year's IDP options fit in among their offensive counterparts.
Obviously, there are some scoring caveats that would be unique to your specific leagues that need to be considered. If you play in a DT-premium league, the defensive tackles should get a little bump. If you play in a CB-premium league, the cornerbacks should get a little bump; you get it. I rarely, if ever, use a rookie pick on outside cornerbacks. First of all, if they're really good, they won't get targeted much since they have their receiver covered. Secondly, if they're bad, they'll get benched at some point. Finally and most importantly, even in CB-premium leagues, waivers are always full of useful corners, so burning a draft pick on a position you can fill off of waivers is a waste of resources.
With my feelings out of the way, let's see where everyone else is fitting in the IDP options on draft day.
Not surprisingly, we are not seeing any IDP players in the first round. This year's NFL class was very top-heavy on offense, with six quarterbacks selected in the first 12 picks and no defensive players chosen until pick 15. We might see a stud defensive end taken early in the NFL draft see a bump in fantasy circles, but since that didn't happen in the NFL this year, there was nothing to carry over to fantasy. As a result, the first 12 picks have all been on the offensive side of the ball.
