As free agency brought many pieces of news, everything we knew is slowly changing. Information is constantly changing and the dynasty values will move in lock-step with it. This series will focus on that market pulse by highlighting players at each spot. Here are four tight ends to watch after NFL free agency:
The Cincinnati Bengals have signed the veteran tight end to replace the departed Hayden Hurst. As of now, Smith steps into a depth chart with no viable tight end presence, and considering the offense is led by Joe Burrow, the market has responded favorably to him. His sale price has not gone through the roof but the market adjustment now allows a dynasty manager to garner interest in him amongst their league-mates. Historically, Smith is an extremely bad bet considering his low RAS score. The sell window means it is time to shop him.
The Move – Ultimately, format matters. In any format that is not 1.75 or higher per reception or a league that requires two starting tight ends, Smith is an automatic sell for two third-round picks or a second-round pick. In a single PPR league, I would sell for a third-round pick. Likely, the formats people chase Smith will be the higher premium formats and in those, take the best deal available to you.
