There has not been a more wild ride this draft season than Jalen Wydermyer's. The top tight end on numerous boards throughout the college football season, there were high expectations for him to establish himself as a solid day two prospect, but he began falling short almost immediately.

With poor workouts and work ethic questions, Wydermyer stands to be one of the biggest fantasy falls in a while, but recent players like Brevin Jordan showed talent over draft capital. Could Wydermyer also buck his profile and be a success?

Wydermyer’s freshman year came a bit out of nowhere as he was behind higher TE recruit Baylor Cupp. Cupp suffered a torn ACL and Wydermyer was thrust into the spotlight. He broke out against Alabama with two touchdowns and was putting up good stats.

Building upon that freshman season, Wydermyer was a bigger part of the short passing game as a sophomore as seen by his 46 catches and he was a red zone threat with three multi-TD games to put him at six for the season.

But, it is rarely positive to see a player regress in his college career, but Wydermyer certainly did. Both his receptions and touchdowns regressed as did his receiving yardage per game. It is a red flag that was ignored by many, but may give a partial indication of his value drop over the past few months.
