Dynasty Fantasy Football Stat Pack: Week 14

Ryan McDowell

If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve probably noticed a series of tweets I share on a weekly basis regarding player and team defensive performances, all from a fantasy lens. I’m going to be sharing some of that same information with you here.

I use this each week as I am making my own lineup and waiver wire decisions and thought you might find this valuable as well.

Note: The scoring system used for this data is always PPR with four points for passing touchdowns.

All year to date fantasy ranks are based on total points.

Quarterbacks

Week Fourteen QB1s (top 12 scorers)

qb1 2

Week Fourteen was highlighted by 49ers rookie quarterback Brock Purdy making his first career start against none other than Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. The Niners cruised to an easy win and Purdy finished as the QB6 in the first full game of his career. Fantasy players who desperately took a shot on Mr. Irrelevant were rewarded. Veteran Russell Wilson also found himself back among the QB1s for only the second time this season. Unfortunately, Wilson was unable to finish the game after suffering a head injury that has him uncertain to play in Week Fifteen.

Trevor Lawrence finished as the overall QB1 for Week Fourteen and that pushed him up a pair of spots to the QB8 on the season-long list. Veterans Kirk Cousins and Jared Goff joined the QB1 group, replacing the injured Kyler Murray and benched Marcus Mariota.

AFC West foes Kansas City and Las Vegas have each allowed ten QB1 games on the season and continue to be defenses to target when selecting a weekly quarterback, albeit for different reasons. This week, the Raiders face Mac Jones and the Patriots while the Chiefs travel to Houston to meet the quarterback duo of Davis Mills and Jeff Driskel.

Along with Kansas City, the Lions, Titans and Vikings are the teams allowing more than 24 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. This week, that’s potentially good news for Mike White (vs. DET), Justin Herbert (vs. TEN) and Matt Ryan (vs. MIN.)

The Eagles finally broke their streak, allowing their first QB1 performance of the season last week. This week, they face another strong challenger as Justin Fields hopes to make it two in a row. The Bills (vs. Tua Tagovailoa), Bengals (vs. Tom Brady), Texans (vs. Patrick Mahomes) and 49ers (vs. Geno Smith) also serve as difficult matchups for opposing quarterbacks.

Running Backs

Week Fourteen RB1s (top 12 scorers)

rb1 2

The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes made use of pass-catching back Jerick McKinnon early and often in Week Fourteen, which resulted in the back’s first ever overall RB1 game and his first top-twelve finish in over two seasons. JK Dobbins was back on the field for the Ravens for the first time since Week Six and he immediately regained his role as workhorse back, rushing 15 times for 120 yards and a score. Dobbins did look somewhat hobbled on a long 44-yard run and admitted following the game that he is still not fully recovered from his ACL injury.

The season-long running back list changed very little last week, with the star backs at the top of the list locked into their positions. Tony Pollard continues to climb the ranks with each weekly performance and he’s now up two more spots to the RB7 for the year. Miles Sanders replaced Jamaal Williams, while Dalvin Cook slide down to the RB12.

Most RB1 Games Allowed

The Texans and Chargers have each allowed nine RB1 games on the season, which sets up for a monster week for Derrick Henry, whose Titans face the Chargers this week. The Chiefs square off against Houston, which makes rookie Isiah Pacheco a candidate to finally notch his first RB1 game.

Other teams allowing more than 26 fantasy points per game to opposing backfields include Seattle (vs. Christian McCaffrey), Cleveland (vs. Dobbins), Chicago (vs. Sanders) and Las Vegas (vs. Rhamondre Stevenson/Damien Harris.)

Six teams have allowed only two RB1 games on the season. They include three of the four teams to allow less than 19 fantasy points per game to rival backs, the 49ers, Patriots and Titans, with the Commanders being the fourth. This week, you might want to avoid relying on Kenneth Walker (vs. SF), Josh Jacobs (vs. NE), Austin Ekeler (vs. TEN) and Saquon Barkley (vs. WAS.) Umm, that will not be easy to do. Obviously, Jacobs, Ekeler and Barkley will remain in fantasy lineups but expectations likely need to be adjusted.

Wide Receivers

Week Fourteen WR1s (top 12 scorers)

wr1 2

With Courtland Sutton out of action and his quarterback Wilson finally looking like the guy the Broncos thought they acquired this past offseason, Jerry Jeudy enjoyed a career day, scoring a trio of touchdowns on his way to his first ever overall WR1 game and just his third top-twelve performance of his career. The Texans were missing their top two receivers in Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins, leaving veteran Chris Moore to go off for ten catches and 124 yards, easily the best game of his career. Finally, Juju Smith-Schuster noted his fourth WR1 game of the year, matching his total from his final three seasons in Pittsburgh.

Year to Date WR1s

wr2 2

Superstars Justin Jefferson and Stefon Diggs swapped places after their respective performances in Week Fourteen, which included a 223-yard game from Jefferson. Seattle receivers Tyler Lockett (WR 10 to WR8) and DK Metcalf (out of top-twelve to WR12) were both risers while Jaylen Waddle’s quiet game cost him two spots.

wr4 2

The Lions, Titans and Rams have separated themselves from the pack by allowing at least ten WR1 performances on the season. No other team has surrendered more than seven. This week, the Lions face the steadily improving Jets offense, offering rookie Garrett Wilson another opportunity for a signature performance. The Titans visit Mike Williams, Keenan Allen and the Chargers while the Rams visit Green Bay for a Monday night tilt against Christian Watson and Allen Lazard.

The Texans have allowed just one WR1 game all season and host the Chiefs this week. Although Smith-Schuster has enjoyed a solid season, this might be one to avoid based on the matchup. The Colts (vs. Justin Jefferson/Adam Thielen) and Giants (vs. Terry McLaurin) are the other teams to allow two or fewer WR1 games.

The Broncos (vs. DeAndre Hopkins/Marquise Brown), Jets (vs. Amon-Ra St. Brown) and Bengals (vs. Chris Godwin/Mike Evans) are the other teams allowing fewer than 29 fantasy points to opposing receiver corps.

Tight Ends

Week Fourteen TE1s (top 12 scorers)

te1 2

Depending on your league’s scoring format, the Week Fourteen performance by Jaguars Evan Engram might be the best game from a tight end all season. He surprised with eleven receptions for 162 yards and two scores and over 39 PPR fantasy points. On a lesser note, Titans rookie Chig Okonkwo has quickly moved from late-season dynasty stash to potential fantasy playoff starter as he scored twice and posted his third TE1 game of the season.

Year to Date TE1s

te2 2

Again, Engram is the story here. A week ago, he was not among the top-twelve tight ends for the year. Now, he’s the TE4. This speaks to both the magnitude of Engram’s performance as well as the pitiful tight end landscape outside of Travis Kelce.

Most TE1 Games Allowed

te4 2

The Cardinals, Falcons and Seahawks have each allowed nine TE1 games on the season. That’s good news for Greg Dulcich (vs. ARI), Juwan Johnson (vs. ATL) and George Kittle (vs. SEA.) Other tight ends with positive matchups include David Njoku (vs. BAL), Dalton Schultz (vs. JAX) and Dawson Knox (vs. MIA.)

On the other side, the Bears, Cowboys and Commanders have each allowed a total of two TE1 games this season. The bears should have no trouble shutting down the Eagles tight ends, unless Dallas Goedert returns to action, that is. The Cowboys will try to slow down Engram while Washington faces rookie Daniel Bellinger and the Giants.

Finally, here is the chart summarizing how teams have fared against each position. I’ve also included the schedule for this week for reference.
