Lineup Advice, Strategy & Team Tracking – Week One

PLEASE READ FULL POST!

Okay DLF’ers, the 2022 NFL regular season is upon us!

We’ve added a new service! Every Sunday morning, you can join DLF’s new Discord server to ask those last minute lineup advice questions, or anything else which may be on your mind. In the very near future, we’ll cut off lineup advice on Saturday night and use this Discord channel to ensure your questions aren’t missed Sunday AM. This new channel is taking our community interaction to the next level. In fact, we’ll be having a little AMA session on Sept. 7 at 6:00 PM PST. Find out more here.

So happy to have all of you back with us for our 17th year! To all of you new DLF’ers with us for your first year, welcome! We can’t do what we do without each and every one of you. To my knowledge, no other site has an interactive lineup advice feature where EVERY one of the community’s questions are answered every week during the regular season. It’s just another way we show our commitment to our community.

This year I’m continuing a trend I started last year. Each week I’ll be summing up the combined performances of my dynasty teams and outlining some of the trends and strategic opportunities I’m seeing week to week. I’ve added additional dynasty leagues to my 2022 roster and it’s going to keep me busy once again.

2022 Team Tracking

2021 was a year that will be VERY hard for me to improve on. I was tracking and reporting on 10 of my dynasty leagues, ultimately sending 40% of them to championship games. In 2022, I’ve added two new start-up leagues and will be including an additional league (a 2021 orphan) into the reporting now that I’ve had one year of rebuilding. It’s a young team, but I did about everything I could to get it ready for 2022.

So, this year, I’ll be tracking 13 dynasty teams and we’ll see how I do.

Strategy and Trends

Along with tracking my team performance, I’m going to do my best to relay any strategic or player trends I’m seeing which may be able to be used for weekly advantage. Every week, luck plays a large role in whether we win or lose, so I’m looking for every opportunity to stack the deck in our favor. For 2022, I’ve taken a receiver heavy, running back light, approach to roster building. Over the past few years I’ve been tracking running back usage and dependability and I’m finally sold on receivers being the best coin of the realm. For superflex formats, I’m still all in on QB/QB with my first two selections, or, if don’t like second quarterback available, delaying my second one by one round, likely QB/WR/QB.

Betting Lines and Props

Something I’ll also be doing for fun, starting in week two, is adding my three favorite betting lines or prop bets for the given week. I don’t consider myself an avid sports bettor but I’ve sported a rather aggressive record in the past and I though we’d have some fun with it in 2022. These will most likely be bets with or against the spread and, perhaps, an over-and-under here or there, so play along and we’ll see how we do.

So, basically, I’m looking to expand my many years of simple lineup advice into a more fun, interactive and informational article in hopes of providing extra entertainment for our DLF members. I hope you enjoy another year of lineup advice as well as these new changes.

Lineup Advice Rules & Format

DLF continues to see amazing growth in our membership and each year I wonder how I’m going to keep up with all of your questions while also holding to a level of service and quality you’ve all come to expect from me. I’ve been VERY happy with my level of accuracy but, for that to occur, I need your help. Each question can take up to 10 minutes for me to research as I research up to a dozen different variables and trends. I do everything I can to get my answers correct. For that reason, I need you to read the following rules and guidelines to help me maintain efficiency:

  • Please don’t ask me to set your entire lineup
  • Put “TNF” as the top line for any question involving Thursday Night Football games
  • Include your scoring format  (PPR, Non-PPR, etc.)
  • Keep your questions as brief as possible – Story questions add a lot of time
  • I prioritize questions involving the earliest (Thursday, etc.) games first. If I skip over your question, don’t worry, I’ll be back to it.
  • It’s easy to miss responses to my responses in thread. When in doubt, always post a separate new question

Lastly, I work very hard to get my advice correct and I do not mail it in. When I’m wrong, I feel every incorrect answer so, go easy on me! That said, the DLF community has been absolutely fantastic to work with which is why I’m still doing this after so many years.

Have a great week! Have an even better season!

Let’s do this…
