…I will say it because no one else ever does: be careful with that “boot and wait” strategy. Guys can surprise you by unexpectedly regressing (see: Hubbard, Chuba), getting hurt (see: Ross, Justyn), or just flat-out leaving no mysteries to their limitations (see: Barkley, Matt). You never know how it’s going to play out.

Agreed. If you have a top five pick and can’t get an equal or better 2023 pick in return, I feel like you just go BPA. In the late first is where it could be smart to trade back for a 2022 second and 2023 first. Next year’s draft will be better because there are actual elite caliber RB’s and QB’s but I’m not sure if it’s 2020 or 2017 level of elite. In addition to what you mention about the variables, there will also be other players that emerge this season that we’ll have to scout and consider so that’s an additional variable. I feel like the hate on this class has overcorrected a bit, at least in the first round. After about 2.04, all bets are off, though, LOL. Get your guy or trade out. Great article though!!!
