Going into the dynasty rookie draft season, I felt Spiller was a top prospect in this year’s running back class. I’ve always had Breece Hall as my RB1 in this class, but Spiller wasn’t far behind. However, Spiller finds himself in the news for all the wrong reasons after his poor performance at the NFL Combine. Of course, though, the NFL Combine isn’t the whole story. So let’s take a look at the entire picture.
Spiller had a solid college career at Texas A&M.

As you can see, he displayed remarkable consistency throughout his three years, with similar YPC and carry counts in each season. He also performed similarly as a receiver each year. Even though he never served as a true workhorse back, he showed a well-rounded skill set that will translate well to the NFL.
It’s rare for a true freshman running back to become a starter on any college team, let alone in the SEC. But, since he found success at such a young age, he will enter the NFL Draft at 20 years old, turning 21 in August. Spiller also was first-team All-SEC in 2020 and second-team in 2021, giving him some impressive accolades.
