Russell Wilson traded to Denver: The Dynasty Fantasy Football Impact

Ken Kelly

Just when we thought the news of the day was over when Aaron Rodgers signed his four-year mega deal to return to the Green Bay Packers, the Seattle Seahawks stole the show and agreed to trade veteran quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos. The trade of Wilson is a monster one with major ramifications in dynasty leagues. Wilson still has to approve the trade and pass his physical, but that seems like a formality at this point. Let's run down the players affected when this deal goes through next Wednesday when the league year opens:

Russell Wilson, QB DEN

Wilson's ten year career in Seattle has been nothing short of spectacular as he's thrown for a whopping 37,059 passing yards, with 292 touchdowns and just 87 interceptions in his ten seasons. It's the end of an era in Seattle as Wilson will leave as Seattle's all-time leader in just about every relevant passing category. After being dubbed "too short for the position," Wilson fell to the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Since then, he only became the first quarterback ever with nine Pro Bowl selections in his first ten years in the league, is first all-time in wins over a quarterback's first ten seasons with 113 and second all-time in passing touchdowns during the same time span with 292. Unfortunately, things have gone stale in Seattle and Wilson was vocal about wanting out last season. While he was quiet this off-season, it's obvious that sentiment didn't change.
