The combine shouldn’t be the main driver in your player evaluation, but it shouldn’t be ignored either. If anything, a lower than expected time should cause dynasty gamers to further look into the prospect by going back to the tape or taking a longer look at the player’s production metrics.
One thing the combine can impact is a player’s draft capital. If the player doesn’t interview well or has a poor performance in the drills, then there’s a possibility the NFL decides to pass on the player, letting them tumble in the draft. We should be alert to this but not double count a player’s fall from grace at the combine until the NFL tells us how to monitor the player. Just note a good or bad performance could impact a player’s draft capital.
