Wow, big miss on my part. Thanks for asking and sorry about that.
Waller’s is tricky because IT band injuries can last a really long time. It isn’t like a normal muscle strain, because the tissue is a thick fascia (elastic tissue). So for him, if mild it really could be a matter of one week missed, or if moderate it could be 3-4+ weeks. I don’t think he will go on IR, but there is that chance he misses up until week 16-17.
Also, the IT band is a very difficult tissue to injure by itself, so I’m curious if he is dealing with any other injuries to the knee that they haven’t announced. But this is pure speculation on my part. It very well could just be the IT band alone.
Best advice: monitor practice reports. It’ll likely come down to pain tolerance for him.
